Daniel Davies (musician)
Daniel Davies is a British-American composer, musician and songwriter. He is best known for his contributions to horror director John Carpenter's '' Lost Themes'' and '' Lost Themes II'' albums, and for his work with rock bands Year Long Disaster, Karma to Burn, and CKY. Davies is the son of guitarist Dave Davies of The Kinks, and the godson of John Carpenter. Early life Davies was born in London, England to The Kinks guitar player Dave Davies and his wife Nancy. His first nine years were in part spent on the road touring with his father. Davies moved to Los Angeles, California with his parents at the age of 11. His godfather, horror director John Carpenter, helped to raise Davies during a portion of his high school years. Davies attended Tomales High School near Inverness, California. John Carpenter
John Howard Carpenter (born January 16, 1948) is an American filmmaker, composer, and actor. Most commonly associated with horror film, horror, action film, action, and science fiction film, science fiction films of the 1970s and 1980s, he is generally recognized as a master of the horror genre. CKY (abbreviation of Camp Kill Yourself) is an American Rock music, rock band from West Chester, Pennsylvania. Formed in early 1998, the group was originally centred around the trio of Deron Miller on guitar and lead vocals, Chad I Ginsburg on lead guitar and Jess Margera on drums. The band debuted in 1999 with ''Volume 1 (CKY album), Volume 1'', gaining underground recognition from its association with the CKY (video series), ''CKY'' video series produced by Margera's brother, skateboarder Bam Margera. Stoner Rock
Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily distorted, groove-laden bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. Due to the similarities between stoner and sludge metal, there is often a crossover between the two genres. This hybrid has traits of both styles, but generally lacks stoner metal's laid back atmosphere and its usage of psychedelia.
