Daniel Carter (LDS Composer)
Daniel Lyman Carter (aka Dan Carter) (born 1955) is a composer/songwriter. Much of his work reflects his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He was born in Caldwell, Idaho. Daniel Carter experienced various troubles in his life during his pursuit as a composer. In 1998 he lost his home, most of his possessions and various family relationships in what has been described as a ''horrific'' divorce. In 2004 he went through another divorce, following which he stayed with a friend and made also attempted suicide. During this second period of time he also stepped away from the Mormon faith for a time. These two divorces are not the only challenges that Daniel has faced in life, with two periods of homelessness also having been experienced. Daniel Carter is an American free jazz musician who plays saxophone, trumpet, and flute. Career Carter has recorded and performed with many distinguished musicians, including William Parker, Federico Ughi, DJ Logic, The Negatones, Thurston Moore, Yo La Tengo, Soul-Junk, Anne Waldman, Cooper-Moore, Matthew Shipp and scientist/musician Matthew Putman among others. He is a member of the cooperative free jazz groups Test, Other Dimensions In Music, odon, Ghost Moth and Dissipated Face. Daniel William Carter (born 5 March 1982) is a retired New Zealand rugby union player. Carter played for Crusaders (Super Rugby) in New Zealand and played for New Zealand's national team, the All Blacks. He is the highest point scorer in test match rugby, and is considered by many experts as the greatest ever first five-eighth (fly-half) in the history of the game. A Republican, he was elected to his first term in the Connecticut House of Representatives in November 2010, representing the state's second district in Bethel, Danbury and Redding. The first appearance of this character was in the weekly DC Comics series '' 52'' where the mystery of his true identity and purpose was one of the recurring themes of the series. Daniel Carter "Uncle Dan" Beard (June 21, 1850 – June 11, 1941) was an American illustrator, author, youth leader, Georgist and social reformer who founded the Sons of Daniel Boone in 1905, which Beard later merged with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Early life Beard was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, into a family of artists. As a youth in Painesville, he explored the woods and made sketches of nature. Mildred Augustine Wirt Benson (July 10, 1905 – May 28, 2002) was an American journalist and writer of children's books. She wrote some of the earliest Nancy Drew mysteries and created the detective's adventurous personality. Benson wrote under the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name, Carolyn Keene, from 1929 to 1947 and contributed to 23 of the first 30 Nancy Drew mysteries, which were bestsellers. Personal life Mildred Benson was born Mildred Augustine in Ladora, Iowa, to Lillian and Dr. J. L. Augustine. Benson earned her degree in English from the University of Iowa in 1925 in just three years. She later returned to the University and in 1927, became the first student there to earn a master's degree in journalism. In 1928, she married Asa Wirt, who worked for the Associated Press.
