Daniel Bellissimo
Daniel Bellissimo (born August 15, 1984) is a Canadian-born Italian retired professional ice hockey goaltender. He last played with Luleå HF of the Swedish Elitserien. Is active GM of Streetsville in the SOHL. Born in Toronto, Bellissimo played junior hockey in the OPJHL for the Vaughan Vipers. He moved to the Italian team HC Asiago in 2006, where he played with his brother Vince. He won two Top League title in Italy. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the '' goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Goaltenders tend to stay at or beyond the top of the crease to cut down on the angle of shots. In the modern age of goaltending there are two common styles, butterfly and hybrid (hybrid is a mix of the traditional stand-up style and butterfly technique). Vaughan Vipers
The Vaughan Vipers were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. They were a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History In 1991, the expansion Royal York Rangers joined the Central Jr. B league, which became the Ontario Provincial league. In 1996, the team moved to become the Vaughan Vipers. In the first season in 1996-97, the Vipers failed to make the playoffs and were the fourth-worst team. After managing only 7 wins out of a 51-game schedule, the Vipers finished with only 18 points, and the Vipers finished out of playoff contention for the third-consecutive year. The 1999-00 season would bring changes, and the Vipers produced talent with some local players, who were discarded from major junior hockey, especially the Ontario Hockey League. 2010 IIHF World Championship
The 2010 IIHF World Championship was the 74th IIHF World Championship, an annual international ice hockey tournament. It took place between 7 and 23 May 2010 in Germany. The games were played in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, SAP Arena in Mannheim, and one game at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. The Russian team was the defending champion, having won the previous two championships. The Czech Republic, after an early 2–3 upset loss to Norway in the preliminary round, ultimately claimed their sixth world championship title by defeating defending champions, two years running, Russia, 2–1 in the final. Sweden won against Germany 3–1 for the bronze medal. Vince Bellissimo
Vince Bellissimo (born December 14, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Bellissimo was selected by the Florida Panthers in the 5th round (158th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Bellissimo, brother of Daniel Bellissimo, played NCAA college hockey with the Western Michigan Broncos men's ice hockey team before beginning his professional career in the American Hockey League with the San Antonio Rampage near the end of the 2004–05 AHL season. In 2007, after three seasons of playing in the North American minor leagues, Bellissimo arrived in Europe to play in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with the ERC Ingolstadt. In 2009, after two brief experiences in SM-liiga, Finland, and Austria, he returned to Ingolstadt. The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).
