Danica Concentration Camp
Danica was the first concentration and extermination camp established in the Independent State of Croatia during World War II. It was established in Koprivnica (located in modern-day Croatia) on 15 or 20 April 1941 in the deserted building of former fertilizer factory "Danica". Mijo Babić participated in preparations for the establishment of Danica concentration camp. The first individual inmates were brought to Danica on 18 April 1941 while first groups arrived at the end of April 1941. The Jews from Zagreb were transported to Danica and Jadovno early in May 1941. Those transported to Danica were all killed by July 1941, while those transported to Jadovno were all killed by August 1941. Danica ilirska was the first Croatian literary magazine launched on 10 January 1835 as a weekly supplement to ''Novine horvatske'' newspaper in Zagreb, the Kingdom of Croatia. It was initially published under the title of ''Danicza horvatzka, slavonzka y dalmatinzka'' (Danica of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia) and edited by a leader of the Croatian national revival Ljudevit Gaj. The name was a reference to the personification of the morning star in Slavic mythology and to the lands of the Triune Kingdom claimed by the proponents of the Croatian national revival – the kingdoms of Croatia, Slavonia, and Dalmatia. ''Ephemera danica'', the green drake or green drake mayfly, is a species of mayfly in the genus ''Ephemera (mayfly), Ephemera''. Description ''Ephemera danica'' can reach an imago size of in males, while females are larger, reaching . This mayfly, with its characteristic markings and three tails (Cercus, cerci), is the most commonly seen of British Ephemeridae. Imago wings are translucent with dark veining, while in subimago they are dull and yellowish with brown veins. Moreover, forelegs and the tails of the spinners are much longer than in duns.
