Dani King
Danielle 'Dani' Rowe MBE (née King; born 21 November 1990) is a British former road and track cyclist. She retired from cycling in December 2018. A team pursuit gold medallist from the London Olympics in 2012, Rowe also won three consecutive world titles in the women's team pursuit, winning in 2011, (with Laura Trott and Wendy Houvenaghel), 2012 (with Trott and Joanna Rowsell), and 2013 (with Trott and Elinor Barker). Career She won the team pursuit at the Track Cycling World Cup in London in preparation for the Olympics in February 2012. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Rowe won a gold medal for the team pursuit alongside Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell. The team also set a new world record time of 3:14.051 in this event. In November 2014, Rowe was involved a serious crash after hitting a pothole while training on roads near Merthyr Tydfil. Dame Laura Rebecca Kenny, Lady Kenny, ( Trott; born 24 April 1992) is a former British professional Track cycling, track and Road bicycle racing, road cyclist who specialised in track endurance events, specifically the team pursuit, omnium, scratch race, elimination race and Madison (cycling), madison disciplines. Track cycling is a bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. Cycling At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park (mountain biking), both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome (track, located in Brisbane) from 5 to 14 April. A total of 26 events were held: 4 in road cycling, 2 in mountain biking and 20 in track cycling (including four events in para-track cycling). The 26 events were evenly split between men and women. This was done after the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) added more women's events in October 2016, to make the games a gender-equal games in terms of overall medal events. 2013 UEC European Track Championships
The 2013 UEC European Track Championships was the fourth edition of the elite UEC European Track Championships in track cycling and took place at the Omnisport Arena in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, between 18 and 20 October. The Event was organised by the European Cycling Union. All ten Olympic events, ( sprint, team sprint, keirin, team pursuit and omnium, for both men and women) and the non-Olympic men's madison championship and points races for both genders were held as part of the championships.
