Dandenong Stingrays
The Dandenong Southern Stingrays are an Australian rules football team in the Talent League, the Victorian statewide under-18s competition. 1992 saw the birth of the Southern Stingrays, developed under the leadership of Steve Kennedy (Regional Manager) and Ron Roach (Promotions Manager) with its home base located at Ben Kavanagh Reserve, Mordialloc, Victoria, Mordialloc. The side is coached in the inaugural year by Peter Russo. In 1995 the club moved from Mordialloc to Dandenong, Victoria, Dandenong and it also changed its name to the Dandenong Southern Stingrays. The club is currently under the leadership of Toby Jedwab (Region Talent Manager) and Ashley Dawes (Administration & Operations Coordinator) with the home base located at Shepley Oval, Dandenong. Talent League
The Talent League (also known as the Coates Talent League under naming rights and previously as the NAB League and TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition based in Melbourne and run by the Australian Football League (AFL). It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing one of twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The competition is the primary sources of recruitment for the clubs of the AFL with around three quarters of all players selected from its ranks in each AFL draft. It provides an opportunity for talented young regional players to participate in a high standard competition without having to relocate too far from their place of origin. Chad Morrison
Chad Morrison (born 29 March 1978) was an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. Drafted to the West Coast Eagles as a compensatory pick in the 1995 Pre-Season Draft, Morrison made his debut as an eighteen-year-old in Round 1 against Fremantle in 1996, after staying in Melbourne to finish year 12 studies in 1995. Dropped twice after two games, he continued to force his way back into the side and with great late form, the half-back/half-forward flanker picked up an AFL Rising Star nomination. David Hille
David Barry Hille (born 2 June 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Essendon Football Club. Early life In his senior year at high school, Hille and seven other schoolmates from Peninsula Grammar lodged themselves into a station wagon and crashed it 500m up the road from where they took off in South Frankston. Three of the boys in the car were killed, and the other three seriously injured, but Hille was not injured. The accident report claims that Hille was wearing his seatbelt, which is why he has appeared on commercials about buckling up when driving. Toby Thurstans
Toby Thurstans (born 14 August 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career Thurstans was drafted to Port Adelaide, from the Dandenong Stingrays, at selection 39 in the 1998 National AFL Draft. He could not get a game and played in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) for Sturt until his AFL debut for Port Adelaide in Round 1, 2003 versus West Coast Eagles at Subiaco. Adam Ramanauskas (born 19 November 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Essendon Football Club. Darren Hulme
Darren Hulme (born 19 July 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton. Hulme played junior football for the Frankston Bombers, and the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup. He was recruited to the AFL with the 8th selection in the 1997 AFL Preseason Draft. Very small in stature, but tough and hard at the ball, Hulme played primarily as a midfielder and/or tagger with stints in the forward-line.
