Dance Concept is a British drum and bass promotion and independent record label. Dance Concept has been running since 1999 promoting parties all over the UK as well as releasing music on all formats on the record label. It started back in 1999 as a London drum & bass promoter. 2003 to date In 2003, the label arm of the promotion took off releasing, first a teaser single and then worldwide distributed album, ''The Legend'' featuring Stevie Hyper D. Tracks from the album gained massive exposure being played on UK National Radio stations such as KISS FM and BBC Radio One as well as gaining cult support and airplay on the underground pirate stations. "Buffalo Soldier" from the album was nominated for DNBA tune of the year in 2004. Although originally released on double CD and 4-piece vinyl, the album was later also released online as the digital revolution took over. Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated as DnB, D&B, or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic dance music characterised by fast Break (music)#Breakbeat (element of music), breakbeats (typically 165–185 Tempo, beats per minute) with heavy Bass (music), bass and sub-bass lines, Sampling (music), samples, and synthesizers. Stevie Hyper D (born Stephen Austin, 20 September 1966 – 5 July 1998) was a British drum and bass MCing, MC. Early life Stephen Austin was born in London, England on 20 September 1966, to a Spanish people, Spanish mother and Barbadian people, Barbadian father. Career Austin was one of the pioneering MCs in the drum and bass-jungle music, jungle scene. He has been credited with inventing the "Double Time" MCing style, where he would double the speed of the generic MC flow but would still fit within the bars of the music. Austin was the first drum and bass MC to have a major release when ''The Next Step'' was released on Island Records in 1999. Aphrodite (artist)
Gavin King, better known by his stage name Aphrodite, is a British Jungle music, jungle and drum and bass Disc jockey, DJ/record producer, producer on the Urban Takeover label. Also known as ''A Zone'' or DJ Aphro, he contributed to and influenced the genre's styles and techniques. He was born in Aberystwyth, Wales, and moved to London with his family as a toddler. He has studied computer science. He was one half of breakbeat hardcore group Urban Shakedown (with Claudio Giussani) who scored a UK top 40 hit with "Some Justice". The duo appeared in an article of Amiga Format magazine after using two Amiga 500 computers to help create the track.
