"Dance 4 Me" is a song by American musician Prince, released as the third track on his 34th studio album '' MPLSound''. Five months after the album's March 2009 release (one week before the French release), "Dance 4 Me" was released as the album's first single, available only as a download in France on August 31. A month later, "Dance 4" Me (Icon Remix) was released as the album’s first single in North America, available as a download only. Other dance remixes were created by outside producers for potential release. In December 2011, close to three years after the album's release, Swiss dance music label Purple Music released a new single of "Dance 4 Me", containing remixes of the track by Jamie Lewis and David Alexander, as well as the remixes recorded for potential release in 2009. "Sexy Dancer" was the follow-up single to Prince (musician), Prince's Prince (album), self-titled second album in the UK. It was the first Prince single released outside the United States that was not released as a single stateside. The disco number has few lyrics but is not short on funk, using prominent bass guitar, grunts and screams to excite the listener. It also has elements of rock and rhythm & blues. The 12-inch single, 12" single was Prince's first non-album extended version to be released and because it was only ever released in the UK, a near mint 12" (UK Warner Brothers K 17590 T) copy can and has sold for over £100. It includes extended bass and guitar solos, as well as more repeats of the refrain. Listening to the extended version as compared to the album and Japanese 7" track, it appears likely they are in fact edited down. The music and most of the lyrics were composed by Prince, while Seacer came up with the chorus and the song's title. Tony M. also delivers a rap, which he wrote.
