Dan Smith is an American illustrator and graphic artist known for his work for Wizards of the Coast, FASA Corporation, FASA, White Wolf Game Studio, White Wolf, Steve Jackson Games, Iron Crown Enterprises, Iron Crown, Hasbro, Nintendo, and Namco. While known primarily as an illustrator, Dan Smith is also a designer of family card games, including ''Battle of the Bands (card game), Battle of the Bands'', ''Portable Adventures'' and ''King of Crime''. Dan Smith has a variety of illustration styles ranging from kid friendly to teen edgy. His black-and-white work for ''GURPS'' became so prominent in the 1990s, he became the unofficial 'house artist'. One of his techniques was to photograph friends in poses as illustration models. This allows friends to flip through role-playing game books and see themselves on the pages dressed as wizards and secret agents. A full back, he previously played professionally in the Premier League for Sunderland, in the Football League for Huddersfield Town, and in the Scottish Premier League for Aberdeen. He also appeared in the Scottish Football League as a triallist for St Johnstone, and played in non-League football for Gateshead, Blyth Spartans, Chester-le-Street Town, Darlington 1883, Dunston UTS and Seaham Red Star. Daniel Ward-Smith (born 2 January 1978) is a former New Zealand-born English rugby union player who played at number eight for Bristol & London Wasps. Dan Smith OBE (born 17 September 1951) is a British author, cartographer and peace researcher. He is currently the Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Smith was Director of Peace Research Institute Oslo from 1993 to 2001, the Secretary General of the independent peacebuilding organisation International Alert and Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Manchester.
