Dan Scripps
Dan Scripps is an American politician and public official. He was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives for the state's 101st district until losing to Republican Ray Franz in November 2010. The district includes Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee and Mason counties, on the northwest coast of Michigan's lower peninsula. He attended Alma College during his undergraduate years. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2005. Beginning as a summer intern in 2004, he was employed by Latham & Watkins Law Firm in Washington D. C. until running for office in 2006. He returned to Latham & Watkins in 2011 until moving back to Michigan in late 2012, where he served as President of the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council. Michigan House Of Representatives
The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2020 U.S. census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Concurrently with the Michigan Senate, the House first convenes on the second Wednesday in January, according to the state constitution. Gretchen Esther Whitmer (; born August 23, 1971) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 49th governor of Michigan since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2001 to 2006 and in the Michigan Senate from 2006 to 2015. Whitmer was born and raised in Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in communication in 1993 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1998. The Lower Peninsula of Michigan – also known as Lower Michigan – is the larger, southern and less elevated of the Geography of Michigan, two major landmasses that make up the U.S. state of Michigan; the other being the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Upper Peninsula, which is separated by the Straits of Mackinac.
