Dan Murphy (hurler)
Dan Murphy (born 1977) is an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Cork senior team. Born in Ballincollig, County Cork, Murphy first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 and intermediate sides. He joined the senior panel during the 1997 championship. Murphy went on to play a bit part for Cork, and won one All-Ireland medal, one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal as a non-playing substitute. At club level Murphy is a one-time championship medallist in the intermediate grade with Ballincollig. Throughout his career Murphy made just one championship appearance for Cork. He left the inter-county team following the conclusion of the 1999 championship. Ballincollig GAA
Ballincollig GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town of Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with the Cork GAA board and plays in the Muskerry divisional competitions. In 2009, the club will participate in the Cork Senior Football Championship and the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship. History The GAA itself was founded in 1884 and the first Cork County Board was formed in 1886 with 21 teams from across the county. Ballincollig were in this initial 21, however it was not until 1887 that the first record of entry into the Championship from a team from Carrigrohane, with a late submission. With a lot of upheaval in the early days of the board, there were rival boards formed and in 1891 the club entered a team under the name of Ballincollig Gladstonians. The 1998 National Hurling League (known as the Church & General National Hurling League) was the 66th season of the National Hurling League. Division 1 The league saw a major restructuring of the usual four divisions of eight teams. Division 1 was split into Group 1A and Group 1B with each group consisting of six teams. The top two teams in each group qualified for the knock-out stage. Limerick came into the season as defending champions of the 1997 season. Antrim, Cork, Dublin and Waterford all entered Division 1 as part of the restructuring. On 17 May 1998, Cork won the title after a 2-14 to 0-13 win over Waterford in the final. Galway GAA
The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Galway is one of the few dual counties in Ireland, competing in a similar level in both hurling and football codes. Prior to amalgamation of the hurling and football county boards into one county board, each of the two codes were previously run by their separate boards in Galway, which was unusual for a dual county. Peter Huban
Peter Huban (born 5 July 1976) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back for the Galway senior team. Born in Kinvara, County Galway, Huban first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Our Lady's College in Gort. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1999 championship. Huban enjoyed a brief career with Galway and ended his career without silverware. At the international level, Huban has played for the composite rules shinty-hurling team at the under-21 level, captaining his country to the title in 1996. At the club level, he enjoyed a lengthy career with Kinvara. Throughout his inter-county career, Huban made 1 championship appearance for Galway. The 1995 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 65th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 29 April 1995 and ended on 3 September 1995. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final.
