Dan Gawrecki (born 23 December 1943 in Frýdek) is a Czech historian focusing mostly on Silesian history. He is professor since 2006. Frýdek, Frýdek-Místek
Frýdek ( la, Fridecca, german: Friedek, Friedeck, pl, Frydek) was an independent town in Silesia that was joined with the Moravian town of Místek on 1 January 1943 to form the town of Frýdek-Místek. It lies on the western border of the Cieszyn Silesia region. History Frýdek lies on the right bank of the Ostravice River, that was agreed in 1261 by a special treaty between Władysław Opolski, Duke of Opole and Racibórz and Ottokar II of Bohemia to be a local border between their states. In 1290 in the process of feudal fragmentation of Poland the Duchy of Teschen was formed, and the border on the Ostravice was then confirmed in 1297. The border from the Silesian side was protected by a small gord around which a small town emerged called ''Jamnice''/''Jamnica''. It could have been first mentioned in a Latin document of Diocese of Wrocław called ''Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis'' from around 1305 as ''item in Jannutha''. Czechs

Silesia
Silesia (, also , ) is a historical region of Central Europe that lies mostly within Poland, with small parts in the Czech Republic and Germany. Muzeum Těšínska ( pl, Muzeum Ziemi Cieszyńskiej, en, Museum of Cieszyn Silesia) is a regional museum in Český Těšín, Czech Republic. ''Těšínsko'' (meaning the "Cieszyn Silesia") is a regional magazine, published originally quarterly, currently twice a year by the Muzeum Těšínska in Český Těšín, Czech Republic. It focuses on the history and culture of the Czech part of Cieszyn Silesia. History and profile The first issue appeared in November 1957 and since then the magazine appears in black and white A4 format. The publisher is Muzeum Těšínska. Józef Chlebowczyk
Józef Chlebowczyk (19 January 1924 – 14 August 1985) was a Polish historian. Biography Chlebowczyk was born in Karviná as a son of Augustyn Chlebowczyk, local administrative worker. He graduated from Juliusz Słowacki Polish Grammar School in Orlová and later from the Main School of Planning and Statistics in Warsaw. In 1961 he gained a Ph.D. In 1966 he passed his habilitation. In 1977 Chlebowczyk gained the title of professor. Since 1968 he worked in Silesian Institute in Katowice and lectured at the Silesian University. He focused on the history of Cieszyn Silesia and nationalist movements in Central Europe. He died on 14 August 1985 in Sozopol, at the age of 61. Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego
The Museum of Cieszyn Silesia ( pl, Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego) in Cieszyn is one of the oldest public museums in Central Europe and the oldest public museum in Poland, set up by father Leopold Jan Szersznik in 1802. History The town palace of the Counts of Larisch was built after the great fire of Cieszyn in 1789. Jan Józef Antoni count Larisch von Mönnich - founder of the residence, decided to build for himself a seat that would reflect his social status and property. In 1796 count Jan Larisch bought a small bourgeois house neighbouring with a gentry house at the then Konwiktowa Street - currently Tadeusza Regera Street) that was owned by the Larisch family since the 18th century.
