Dan Evans (tennis)
Daniel Evans (born 23 May 1990) is a British professional tennis player from England. He has been ranked as high as world No. 21 in singles by the ATP, which he achieved on 7 August 2023. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 52 in doubles on 26 April 2021. In 2015, he formed part of the winning British Davis Cup team. Evans's four ATP Tour finals to date have been the 2017 Apia International Sydney (losing to Gilles Müller), Delray Beach Open (losing to Radu Albot), the 2021 Murray River Open, where he beat Félix Auger-Aliassime to win his first title, and the 2023 Washington Open, winning his first ATP 500 title against Tallon Griekspoor. Evans made his Davis Cup debut for Great Britain against Poland in September 2009. Evans twice won deciding fifth rubbers, against Slovakia and Russia respectively, helping Great Britain progress to the Davis Cup World Group. Tennis At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's Singles
Serbia's Novak Djokovic defeated Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in the final, 7–6(7–3), 7–6(7–2) to win the gold medal in the men's singles tennis event at the 2024 Summer Olympics. It was Serbia's first gold medal in Olympic tennis. With the win, Djokovic became the third man (after Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal) to complete the Career Golden Slam, the second (after Agassi) to achieve the Career Super Slam, and the only one to win all the Big Titles in singles. Djokovic also became the oldest men's singles finalist and champion in Olympic tennis, while Alcaraz was the youngest finalist. Djokovic was the first man to win the Olympics without losing a set during the tournament, in what was his third consecutive Olympics as the top seed. Association Of Tennis Professionals
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first president. Since 1990 the association has organized the ATP Tour, the worldwide tennis tour for men and linked the title of the tour with the organization's name. It is the governing body of men's professional tennis. In 1990 the organization was called the ATP Tour, which was renamed in 2001 as just ATP and the tour being called ATP Tour. In 2009 the name of the tour was changed again and was known as the ATP World Tour, but changed again to the ATP Tour by 2019. ATP Rankings
The PIF ATP Rankings (previously known as the Pepperstone ATP Rankings) are the merit-based method used by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for determining the qualification for entry as well as the seeding of players in all singles and doubles tournaments. The first rankings for singles were published on 23 August 1973 while the doubles players were ranked for the first time on 1 March 1976. Ranking points are awarded according to the stage of tournament reached, and the prestige of the tournament, with the four Grand Slam tournaments awarding the most points. The rankings are updated every Monday, and points are dropped 52 weeks after being awarded (with the exception of the ATP Finals, from which points are dropped on the Monday following the last ATP Tour event of the following year). Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten defeated Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in the final, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(10–8), 7–6(11–9) to win the gentlemen's doubles tennis title at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. They saved three championship points en route to both players' first major title in men's doubles. Heliövaara became the first Finnish man to win the title.
