Damian Le Bas
Damian Le Bas (30 January 1963, Sheffield – 9 December 2017, Worthing) was a British artist associated with the Outsider art, Outsider Art (or "Art Brut") label, as well a leading exponent of the "Roma Revolution" in art. Life Le Bas was of Romani people, Roma heritage. Le Bas attended the Royal College of Art. He lived and worked with his wife, the Romani people, Romany artist Delaine Le Bas, in West Sussex on the south coast. He was the father of writer Damian Le Bas (writer), Damian Le Bas. Collections Since 1987 several of Le Bas' pieces are held in the Musgrave-Kinley Collection of works by key Outsider art, Outsider artists, administered by Monika Kinley, until her death in 2014. His more recent work is found, among others, in the collections of Perpetuum Mobile. Malmö Konsthall
Malmö Konsthall is an exhibition hall located in the center of Malmö, Sweden. It is one of the largest exhibition halls for contemporary art in Europe. Building The hall was designed by architect Klas Anshelm (1914-1980), who was inspired by the Paris studio of the sculptor Constantin Brâncuși. It was built between 1971-1974 and is constructed of concrete, glass, wood and aluminium. The ceiling is made of domes with natural and artificial light sources. The light well has a large sloping skylight admitting northern light. The building was awarded the 1974 Kasper Salin Prize by the Swedish Association of Architects. The gallery was renovated in 1994, connecting the older brick building next door (Hantverkshuset or Craft Building) with the exhibition hall, and thus gaining space for a book store selling books, posters and postcards, a children’s area and a restaurant that offers Swedish food. Prague Biennale
The Prague Biennale is an international art exhibition in Prague, Czech Republic, held in alternate (odd-numbered) years. It was founded in 2003 by Helena Kontova and Giancarlo Politi. It is supported by the Czech Minister of Culture and the City of Prague. Art Brut
Art Brut are a Berlin-based English and German indie rock band. Their debut album, ''Bang Bang Rock & Roll'', was released on 30 May 2005, with its follow up, '' It's a Bit Complicated'', released on 25 June 2007. Named after French painter Jean Dubuffet's definition of outsider art – art by prisoners, loners, the mentally ill, and other marginalized people, and made without thought to imitation or presentation – South London's Art Brut were tagged by '' NME'' as part of the "Art Wave" scene that also included bands such as The Rakes, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Monika Kinley
Monika Kinley (24 August 1925 – 9 March 2014) was a British art dealer, collector and curator, particularly noted for her championing of the work and integrity of outsider artists. ''The Times'' called her "outsider art's champion". Early life and education She was born Monika Wolf in Berlin into an Austrian Jewish family, the daughter of August Wolf, a journalist and his wife Paula Wolf. In 1932, they moved to Vienna, but left in 1938 on the very day that German troops entered the city. They stayed in Prague until 1939, where her parents had to queue around the clock for two days to get the necessary stamps in their passports, arriving in Britain on 2 April 1939. Paula Wolf was already ill and died soon after their arrival.
