North Central Texas Council Of Governments
The North Central Texas Council of Governments or NCTCOG is a voluntary association of governments in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. As of 2023 its ranks currently include 16 counties, 169 cities, towns, and villages, 19 school districts, and 24 special districts. Based in Arlington, NCTCOG is a member of the Texas Association of Regional Councils and the Texas Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations. The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (KBHCCD; formerly the Dallas Convention Center) is a convention center in the Convention Center District, Dallas, Texas, Convention Center District of downtown Dallas, downtown Dallas, Texas. Texas Central Railway
Texas Central or Texas Central Partners, LLC, is a private company that is proposing to build a high-speed rail line between Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. It plans to use technology based on that used by the Central Japan Railway Company and trains based on the N700S Series Shinkansen. The proposed route would take 90 minutes. On April 11, 2024, the governments of the United States and Japan signaled support for the project after their leaders met in Washington. Amtrak took over planning of the project from Texas Central, with estimates that the project would cost more than $30 billion and if successful could start service in the early 2030s. With the withdrawal of a federal grant, Amtrak ended their involvement in the project in April 2025.
