Dallas Rage
The Dallas Rage was an expansion team in the National Women's Football Association. In its 2005 inaugural season, the Dallas Rage compiled a 6-2 regular season record including an upset defeat of the previously undefeated Oklahoma City Lightning. The Dallas Rage made it to the first round of playoffs in their first season, losing 14-16 to the Chattanooga Locomotion. In 2006, the team compiled only a 4-4 regular season record but featured the league's leading passer (Jennifer Hull) and leading sacker (Twyla Smith), who were both nominated as finalists for the league's overall offensive and defensive MVPs, respectively. In 2007, the team amassed a 2-6 record but shut down before completing the 2007 regular season. National Women's Football Association
The National Women's Football Association (NWFA) was a full-contact American football league for women headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The league was founded by Catherine Masters in 2000, as the two benchmark teams, the Alabama Renegades and the Nashville Dream played each other six times in exhibition games. The opening season was in 2001 featuring ten teams. The NWFA did not officially field any teams for the 2009 season. The NWFA was originally called the National Women's Football League, but changed its name after the 2002 season. The name change came after pressure from the National Football League. The NFL also required the league to change the logos of some teams whose logos resembled those of NFL teams. Oklahoma City Lightning
The Oklahoma City Lightning is a full-contact women's American football team in the Women's Spring Football League based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Home games are played at Taft Stadium. Formerly a member of the Independent Women's Football League in their inaugural season of 2002, and then the National Women's Football Association from 2003 until 2008, they have made the playoffs in six of seven seasons played so far, losing four times in the Conference Championship Game (two to the Pensacola Power in 2003 and 2005 and once to the Austin Outlaws in 2002 and the Columbus Comets in 2007) and losing twice in the NWFA Championship Game (to the Detroit Demolition in 2004 and to the D.C. Lone Star Mustangs
The Lone Star Mustangs are a team of the Women's Football Alliance. Based in Bedford Texas (part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex), the Mustangs play their home games at Pennington Field (the campus was formerly M.B. Smiley High School). History The Lone Star Mustangs played their first full season of women's full contact football in 2009 and ended the season at 6-2 after playing the H-Town Texas Cyclones and the Austin Outlaws and missed the playoffs by merely 1 point. Women's Football Alliance
The Women's Football Alliance (WFA) is a professional full-contact Women's American football tackle minor league that began play in 2009. It is the largest 11-on-11 football league for women in the world, and the longest running active women's football league in the U.S. Since 2016, the league has operated with three competitive levels: Pro, Division 2 and Division 3. The league is owned and operated by Jeff King and Lisa Gibbons King of Exeter, California. Lisa King is also a wide receiver for the WFA's, Los Angeles Warriors. In addition to operating annual national championship seasons in the United States, the league also operates the WFA International Program which organizes international competitions for its own Team United and Team World against each other and all-star teams from other nations.
