Harry Daley
Sergeant Harry Daley (14 November 1901 – 12 March 1971) was the first known openly gay British policeman. Born in Lowestoft he later moved to Dorking and, in 1925, to London where he joined the Metropolitan Police. Soon after joining the police, he met gay writer J. R. Ackerley and, through him, a number of other literary and artistic figures. Daley became the lover of writer E. M. Forster at the age of 25, a relationship that lasted seven years. After retiring from the police in 1950 he returned to Dorking where he lived with his brother and his partner. Daley wrote an autobiography that was published posthumously in 1986. He won the decathlon gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1980 and 1984, and broke the world record for the event four times. He was unbeaten in competition for nine years. Leavitt Leo "Bud" Daley (October 7, 1932 – October 15, 2024) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1955 to 1964 for the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Athletics, and New York Yankees. Biography Leavitt was his father's name. Daley Blind (; born 9 March 1990) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for La Liga club Girona. He has been deployed in a variety of defensive roles – as a left-back, centre-back, and defensive midfielder. He is the son of former Ajax defender and former Netherlands national team manager Danny Blind. Blind rose through the youth ranks at Ajax, becoming a regular after a loan to Groningen, and won four consecutive Eredivisie titles with the club. Dennis Daley (born August 7, 1996) is an American professional football offensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks and was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers. Caroline Daley is a New Zealand social historian, and is a full professor of history at the University of Auckland. She is the dean of graduate studies at Auckland. Jim Daley (born July 15, 1951) is a Canadian football coach, who currently serves as the special teams coordinator and assistant head coach for the St. Francis Xavier X-Men football team. He has previously coached in the Canadian Football League from 1990 to 2014, including as head coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
