Dale Winton
Dale Jonathan Winton (22 May 1955 – 18 April 2018) was an English radio DJ and television presenter. He presented the shows '' Dale's Supermarket Sweep'' from 1993 until 2001 and again in 2007, the National Lottery game show '' In It to Win It'' between 2002 and 2016 and the 2008 series of '' Hole in the Wall''. Winton also presented '' Pets Win Prizes'' (1995–96) and '' The Other Half'' (1997–2002). Early life Winton was born on 22 May 1955 to a Jewish father, Gary Winton, and actress Sheree Winton, a Jewish convert. Winton's father died on the day of his bar mitzvah and so he was brought up by his mother. Winton's mother died by suicide in 1976 while suffering from depression. Marylebone
Marylebone (usually , also , ) is a district in the West End of London, in the City of Westminster. Oxford Street, Europe's busiest shopping street, forms its southern boundary. An ancient parish and latterly a metropolitan borough, it merged with the boroughs of Westminster and Paddington to form the new City of Westminster in 1965. Steve Allen (radio Presenter)
Stephen Allen (born 17 March 1954) is an English radio presenter. He hosted the early morning breakfast show on LBC until 2023 and was the station's longest-serving presenter. Radio career Allen first worked as a nightclub disc jockey where he met long-time friend Dale Winton and subsequently joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station broadcasting to workers in the United Biscuits factories. His voice was heard in Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester and London. UBN closed in 1979, and Allen joined LBC as presenter of the ''Night Extra'' programme. He then moved on to present ''The Night is Young'' on the station. When LBC was separated into two stations- 1152 AM and 97.3 FM, Allen presented the afternoon show for 'London Talkback Radio' (later known as LBC London News 1152) and ''Saturday Night Out''. ''Pick of the Pops'' is a long-running BBC Radio programme originally based on the Top 20 from the UK Singles Chart and first broadcast on the BBC Light Programme on 4 October 1955. It transferred to BBC Radio 1 (simulcast on BBC Radio 2) from 1967 to 1972. The show was revived for six years in 1989 and its current production run started on BBC Radio 2 in 1997. It is currently hosted by Paul Gambaccini. Original format (1955–72) Initially the show did not feature chart music, but in September 1957 Alan Dell introduced the format of running through the charts of the week, playing the top 10s from various music papers, plus entries to the top 20s. Alan Leslie Freeman, MBE (6 July 1927 – 27 November 2006), nicknamed "Fluff", was an Australian-born British disc jockey and radio personality in the United Kingdom for 40 years, best known for presenting '' Pick of the Pops'' from 1961 to 2000. Blue Danube Radio (BDR) was an English-language radio station broadcast by the Österreichischer Rundfunk ( en, Austrian Broadcasting; ORF). History Blue Danube Radio went live on 23 August 1979, created principally for the United Nations community at UNO-City in Vienna. It was popular with many Austrian people too. The name "Blue Danube" was also previously used by the unrelated radio station operated by American Forces Network (AFN) and the 5th United States Army in the American-occupied zone of Austria between 1945 and 1955. From 1995, it shared airtime with FM4, which eventually completely took over on 1 February 2000. Heart Dunstable (formerly 97.6 Chiltern FM) was an Independent Local Radio station based in Chiltern Road in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. History Together with sister stations 96.9 Chiltern FM, Northants 96 and Horizon Radio, the station formed the Chiltern Radio Network, which became the Chiltern Radio Group.
