Dala Airport
Dala Airport or Borlänge Airport is situated southeast of Borlänge, a city in the Dalarna province of Sweden. It is also 20 minutes from the city of Falun. History The airfield was built during the Second World War and was modernized in 1961. In mid 1960 the first civilian airlines arrived at Dala Airport. A new terminal building was completed in 1972 and Dala Airport AB took over the airport. The airfield was owned by the Swedish military until 2007. The all-time-high number of passengers was 210,000 in 1989. Until around 1992, airlines had monopoly per route, but prices were regulated with a fixed maximum price per seat kilometer. Managers in the public and private sector were freely allowed to choose air for work travel. After 1992 free competition was introduced, and the price regulation was removed. More strict rules for work travel cost for public sector managers were introduced. Smaller routes like Borlänge–Stockholm still had only one operator so prices increased. Nec ...

Dala (crustacean)
''Dala'' is an extinct genus of pancrustaceans from the Cambrian Orsten. The genus contains a single species, ''Dala peilertae''. Description ''Dala'' is estimated to be around 2 millimetres long extrapolating from partial specimens, with no preserved head in the holotype and only a fragmentary one in the paratype. It has eight pairs of thoracic appendages forming a filter apparatus, four pairs of cephalic appendages, a large labrum and five ring-shaped abdominal segments, alongside a long furca on the posteriormost segment. Two different size groups of ''Dala'' have been identified, although no currently known larvae have been found. A relationship to Cephalocarida was briefly suggested, but ''Dala'' is currently labelled as Pancrustacea ''incertae sedis''. Etymology ''Dala'' is named for the parish of Dala 2 km west-northwest of the discovery site. Its specific name ''peilertae'' honours Mrs. Christa Peilert "on the occasion of her retirement after 14 years (1966 ...

Hawaiian Dollar
The dollar or dala was the currency of Hawaii between 1847 and 1898. It was equal to the United States dollar and was divided into 100 ''cents'' or ''keneta''. Only sporadic issues were made, which circulated alongside United States currency. Coins The first official coinage issued by the Kingdom of Hawai'i was in 1847. This coin was a copper cent bearing the portrait of King Kamehameha III on its obverse. The King Kamehameha III copper cent proved to be unpopular due to the King's portrait being of poor quality. Although it is claimed the denomination was misspelled (''hapa haneri'' instead of ''hapa haneli''), the spelling "Hapa Haneri" was correct until the end the 19th century. The spelling "Haneri" (Hawaiian for "Hundred") appears on all and Hawaiian bank notes in circulation between 1879 and 1900. In 1883, Kingdom of Hawai'i official silver coinage were issued in the denominations of one dime (United States coin), dime (''umi keneta'' in Hawaiian language, Hawaiian), qu ...

Dala Horse
A Dala horse () or Dalecarlian horse is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). The Dala horse has been widely used as a toy for children. It has also become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general. Several types of Dala horses are made with distinguishing features common to the locality of the site where they are produced. One particular style has, however, become much more common and widespread than others. It is stoutly carved and was traditionally painted Iron oxide red at first. Now it is usually reddish orange with details and a harness in white, green, yellow and blue. History The carving of Dala horses as a livelihood is thought to have started in the village of in central Sweden, though the nearby "horse" villages of , Vattnäs, and Nusnäs were also centres of horse-making. The villages were involved in the art of furniture and clock-making, and it is likely the leftover s ...

Dala (game)
{{Short description, Sudanese strategy board game Dala is a two-player abstract strategy board game from Sudan, and played especially by the Baggara tribes. The game is also called Herding the Cows (or Herding the Bulls). It is an alignment game with captures similar to that of the game Dara. Players first drop their pieces onto the board, and then move them (herding the cows) orthogonally in an attempt to form 3 in-a-rows which allows a player to capture any of their opponent's piece on the board. Goal The player who reduces their opponent's number of pieces to two is the winner. The opponent can no longer form a 3-in-a-row with two pieces or fewer. Equipment A 6x6 square board is used. Each player has a set of 12 pieces of which one set is black, and the other is white. Traditionally, the board was played on a raised soft mud, and the lines of the board were drawn onto it and marked by holes called "Nugar". Each player had 12 sharpened sticks that would be placed ...
