Dakolé Daïssala
Dakole Daïssala (15 April 1943 – 9 August 2022) was a Cameroonian politician and the President of the Movement for the Defence of the Republic (MDR), a political party based in Cameroon's Far North Region.Kini Nsom and Nformi Sonde Kinsai"Cameroon: Despite Cabinet Reshuffle Northerners Still Gun for Inoni's Job" ''The Post'', 13 September 2007. Parliamentary elections were held in Cameroon on 30 June 2002. The result was a victory for the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, which won 149 of the 180 seats. In 17 constituencies the result was cancelled by the Supreme Court of Cameroon, Supreme Court due to irregularities and the election re-run on 15 September. Regions Of Cameroon
The Republic of Cameroon is divided into ten regions. History Between 1961 and 1972, Cameroon was a federal republic made up of two federated states, East Cameroon and West Cameroon. A unitary system came into being in 1972. The country was then divided into provinces. In 1983, Centre-South Province was divided into Centre and South and at the same time, Adamawa and Far North Provinces were split from North Province. See summary of administrative history in Zeitlyn 2018. In 2008, the President of the Republic of Cameroon, President Paul Biya signed decrees abolishing "provinces" and replacing them with "regions". Hence, all of the country's ten provinces are now known as regions. The Northwest region and Southwest region were granted special status in December 2019, giving them additional powers. Senate Of Cameroon
The Senate is the upper house of the Parliament of Cameroon. It consists of 100 members with 70 of them being elected and 30 being appointed by the President of Cameroon, divided among the ten regions of the country. History The Senate was created in 1996 after an amendment to the constitution created the upper chamber. However, power to convene the Electoral College and call elections for the Senate remained with the President. President Paul Biya chose not to do so until he signed decree 2013/056 on 27 February 2013, which set 14 April as the election date. Electoral system The Senate has 100 seats, of which 70 are elected and 30 appointed by the President, with each region having 10 Senators. Douala is the largest city in Cameroon and its economic capital. It is also the capital of Cameroon's Littoral Region (Cameroon), Littoral Region. Kenya Airways Flight 507
Kenya Airways Flight 507 was a scheduled international passenger service between Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and Nairobi, Kenya with a stopover in Douala, Cameroon, operated by Kenya Airways. On 5 May 2007, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft serving the flight crashed immediately after takeoff from Douala International Airport in Cameroon, killing all 114 occupants onboard. The plane broke up into small pieces and came to rest mostly submerged in a mangrove swamp, to the south (176°) of the end of Douala International Airport's runway 12. There were no survivors. The investigation by the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority determined that the pilots failed to notice and correct excessive bank following takeoff.
