Daithí Regan
Daithí Regan (born 1968 in Birr, County Offaly) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Birr and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team between 1989 and 1999. Regan currently works as a hurling analyst with Newstalk's Off The Ball and with TV3 as part of the expert panel on '' Championship Live''. Inter-county Club Regan played his club hurling with his local club in Birr. His playing career coincided with a great period of success for the club. In 1991 Regan captured his first senior county championship winners’ medal. It was Birr’s first county final triumph in twenty years. Birr later represented Offaly in the provincial club championship. A huge defeat of Ballyhale Shamrocks in the provincial final gave Regan a Leinster club winners’ medal. Birr GAA
Birr GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Offaly Cork Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling, but also fields teams in Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Birr, on the Offaly- Tipperary border, Birr GAA Club was established in 1909. After just a few short years, the club had it's first success when, in 1912, they claimed the first of three Offaly SHC in four seasons. After a lapse of 23 years, Birr had a successful 10-year period between 1938 and 1948, during which time the club claimed six Offaly SHC titles. Birr won their 10th Offaly SHC in 1971. Birr had their most successful and dominant era in the 17-year period between 1991 and 2008. During that time the club won 12 Offaly SHC titles, including a record-equalling five-in-a-row between 1999 and 2003, followed by a four-in-a-row between 2005 and 2008. Leinster Minor Hurling Championship
The Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year – except for a three-year absence during the Emergency – since the 1928 championship. Despite the name, the competition also includes teams from Ulster and Connacht. The final, usually held on the last Sunday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during April, May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Hanrahan Cup. Johnny Dooley
Johnny Dooley (born 7 October 1971 in Clareen, County Offaly) is an Irish former hurling manager and player. He played hurling with his local club Clareen GAA and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from 1991 until 2002. Dooley served as manager of the Westmeath senior inter-county team from 2007 until 2008. Early life Johnny Dooley was born just outside Clareen, County Offaly in 1971. He was born into a family that was steeped in hurling history. His father's uncle, Tom Dooley, as well as his mother's father and uncle had all played with Offaly in the junior All-Ireland finals in 1929 and 1923 respectively. Similarly, for almost two decades Johnny and his brothers Billy and Joe formed the backbone of the Offaly senior hurling team.
