Daegu Shinmun
The ''Daegu Shinmun'' is a local daily newspaper in Daegu, South Korea. Like most of the country's newspapers, it publishes exclusively in Korean. The headquarters are located in Dongin-dong, Jung-gu, above the Sincheon. The paper is distributed throughout Daegu and the surrounding province of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and covers national and regional events as well as local affairs. Daegu
Daegu (, , literally 'large hill', 대구광역시), formerly spelled Taegu and officially known as the Daegu Metropolitan City, is a city in South Korea. It is the third-largest urban agglomeration in South Korea after Seoul and Busan; it is the third-largest List of special cities of South Korea#List of metropolitan cities, official metropolitan area in the nation with over 2.5 million residents; and the second-largest city after Busan in the Yeongnam Regions of Korea, region in southeastern Korean Peninsula. Jung-gu (Daegu)
Jung District (Jung-gu) is a ''gu'', or district, covering the downtown area of Daegu, South Korea. It borders most of the other districts of Daegu, including Nam-gu to the south, Seo-gu to the west, Buk-gu to the north, and Dong-gu and Suseong-gu to the east. The northern border is formed by the Gyeongbu Line railroad, and the eastern border by the Sincheon stream. Sincheon (Daegu)
The Sincheon is a stream flowing through eastern Daegu, South Korea. It rises from the Naengcheon and other streams in Gachang-myeon, Dalseong-gun, in the rural south of the city, and flows north through the east side of the city center to reach the Geumho River. For much of its length it is bordered by a riverwalk on either side. In addition, the west bank is the site of the Sincheon Expressway. The name "Sincheon" means "new stream." This name refers to its being constructed as part of a flood containment project ordered by local official Yi Seo during the reign of King Jeongjo in 1778. Cites "팔공산 아십니까?" by Lee Jeong-un. Since that time, the stream has been continuously subject to human interventions, for flood control, recreation, and other purposes. Gyeongsangbuk-do
North Gyeongsang Province ( ko, 경상북도, translit=Gyeongsangbuk-do, ) is a province in eastern South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Gyeongsang province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. Daegu was the capital of North Gyeongsang Province between 1896 and 1981, but has not been a part of the province since 1981. In 2016, the provincial capital moved from Daegu to Andong. The area of the province is , 19.1 percent of the total area of South Korea.
