''Daddio'' is a 2023 American drama film produced, written and directed by Christy Hall. It stars Dakota Johnson (who also produced) as a young woman returning home to Midtown Manhattan, Midtown Manhattan from JFK International Airport by cab after a trip, who unexpectedly ends up conversing with her taxi driver (Sean Penn). After premiering at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2023, ''Daddio'' was limited theatrical release, released in select cinemas in the United States and Canada by Sony Pictures Classics on June 28, 2024. Christy Hall is an American screenwriter and film director. Career She is the screenwriter and director of the 2023 feature film ''Daddio (film), Daddio'' starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. ''Daddio'' is her feature directorial debut. Hall is also the screenwriter for 2024 film ''It Ends with Us (film), It Ends With Us,'' starring Blake Lively. She also co-created with Jonathan Entwistle the 2020 Netflix series ''I Am Not Okay with This''.
