''Dadar Kirti'' (; ) is a 1980 Bengali romantic drama film directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film was based on an unpublished novel of the same name by Saradindu Bandopadhyay. It stars Tapas Paul, Mahua Roychoudhury, Ayan Banerjee, Debashree Roy, Sandhya Roy, Kali Banerjee, Ruma Guha Thakurta and Anup Kumar (actor), Anup Kumar. The film marks the debut of Tapas Paul. The film attained a huge box office success upon its release and still has a popular following. Plot Kedar Chatujye, a dim-witted simpleton, is exiled to his uncle's house in a small town in Bihar by his father, who is extremely angry with him for failing to pass his B.A. exams in three attempts. Tapas Paul (29 September 1958 – 18 February 2020) was an Indian actor and politician. One of the most celebrated actors of Bengali cinema, Paul is best known for his on-screen roles opposite Mahua Roy Choudhury and Debashree Roy. He received a Filmfare Award. Sulata Chowdhury (1945 – 16 September 1997) was a Bengalis, Bengali actress and theatre personality. Chowdhury made her film debut with ''Debarshi Narader Sansar'' (1960). As a leading actress her first film was Sudhir Mukherjee's ''Shesh Paryanta'' (1960) which was a prominent success at the box office. Early life Choudhury was born as Maya Roychowdhury in 1945 in Kolkata, British India. Her father's name was Atal Chandra Roychowdhury. She had passion in dancing and singing since childhood.
