''Da Drought 3'' is the seventh mixtape by Lil Wayne, released on April 13, 2007. Background This is the third in the trilogy of mixtapes in ''Da Drought'' series. Released in 2007, the mixtape was delayed slightly as a result of Wayne's last-minute decision to add songs to the album's second disc. The album is available as a free legal download. It only contains remixes of other songs. It is noted for Lil Wayne's use of similes, liquid non sequiturs, and metaphors. When speaking to MTV about the double mixtape, Lil Wayne stated that he did not plan on two discs being released until he found how many songs he had recorded. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (born September27, 1982), known professionally as Lil Wayne, is an American rapper. A ''non sequitur'' ( , ; "[it] does not follow") is a conversational List of narrative techniques, literary device, often used for Comedy, comedic purposes. It is something said that, because of its apparent lack of meaning relative to what preceded it, seems Absurdity, absurd to the point of being humorous or confusing. Similes
A simile () is a type of figure of speech that directly ''compares'' two things. Similes are often contrasted with metaphors, where similes necessarily compare two things using words such as "like", "as", while metaphors often create an implicit comparison (i.e. saying something "is" something else). However, there are two schools of thought regarding the relationship between similes and metaphors. The first defines them as opposites, such that a statement cannot be both a simile and a metaphor — if it uses a comparison word such as "like" then it is a simile; if not, it is a metaphor. Mixtape
In the modern music industry, a mixtape is a musical project, typically with looser constraints than that of an album or extended play. Unlike the traditional album or extended play, mixtapes are labeled as laid-back projects that allow artists more creative freedom and less commercial pressure. The term has significantly increased in popularity over the years due to high-profile artists marketing their projects as such. Prior to the decline of physical media, mixtapes were defined as homemade compilations of music played through a cassette tape, Compact disc, CD, or digital playlist and became significant in Hip hop (culture), hip-hop culture. The songs were typically beatmatching, beatmatched and consisted of seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits. The Leak
''The Leak'' is the first extended play (EP) by American rapper Lil Wayne. It was released on December 25, 2007, under Cash Money Records and Universal Motown Records. The five songs on the EP were recorded by Lil Wayne during '' Tha Carter III'' sessions. The songs were ultimately leaked online by an unknown source, Wayne later compiled the songs and called the project ''The Leak''. Lil Wayne decided to put out ''The Leak'' for his fans, so that they could have CD-quality versions of the songs.
