Da Bomb (song)
"Da Bomb" is the third and final single released by American hip hop duo Kris Kross from their second album, '' Da Bomb'' (1993). It features female rapper Da Brat in what was her first appearance on a song. Da Bomb would prove to be the least successful single released from the album, not charting on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and making it to #25 on the Hot Rap Singles. Two versions of the song were released the original LP version and the Explosive Mix that was used in the music video. The line "I drop bombs like Hiroshima" was edited out of the song for the album's Japanese release. Critical reception Dr. Bayyan from ''Cash Box'' wrote, "You better watch your back, this title track comes complete with a rolling thunder phat beat, quirky synth feels, a little scratch-and-sniff turntable work. Kris Kross
Kris Kross was an American hip hop duo that consisted of Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith. Kris Kross was the youngest hip-hop duo to gain success, with gold and platinum albums at 12 and 13 years old. The duo was discovered by Jermaine Dupri in 1991 and hit worldwide status the following year with their smash hit debut single, " Jump", which topped the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for eight weeks and was certified double platinum as a single. They went on to release three studio albums, with their debut album ''Totally Krossed Out'' topping the US ''Billboard'' 200, and their following albums, '' Da Bomb'' and '' Young, Rich & Dangerous'' making it into the Top 20. G-funk Songs
G-funk, short for gangsta funk, is a sub-genre of gangsta rap that emerged from the West Coast scene in the late 1980s. The genre is heavily influenced by 1970s psychedelic funk (P-funk) sound of artists such as Parliament-Funkadelic. Characteristics G-funk (which uses funk with an artificially altered tempo) incorporates multi-layered and melodic synthesizers, slow hypnotic grooves, a deep bass, heavy use of the snare drum, background female vocals, the extensive sampling of P-Funk tunes, and a high-pitched portamento saw wave synthesizer lead. Funk is a music genre that originated in African Americans, African American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African Americans in the mid-20th century. Shawntae Harris-Dupart (born April 14, 1974), better known by her stage name Da Brat, is an American rapper. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, she began her career in 1992, the year she signed with So So Def Records. Her debut album ''Funkdafied'' (1994) sold one million copies, making her the first female solo rap act to receive a platinum certification, and the second overall female rap act (solo or group) after Salt-N-Pepa.
