DMC World
The DMC World DJ Championships is an annual DJ competition founded by the Disco Mix Club (DMC) which began in 1985. It has been described as a "pre-eminent competitive DJ event". History Competitors are each given 6 minutes to perform, with winners selected at the end. Championships were sponsored internationally by Technics, but in 2010 Technics was replaced by Serato and Rane. Since 2011, the vinyl emulation software Serato Scratch Live can be used during the competition in addition to traditional vinyl. The first championship, held in the London Hippodrome in 1985, was won by Londoner Roger Johnson. From 1992 to 1994 American DJ Qbert dominated the competition, until being asked to step down in order to "level the playing field". In 2017 the Bronx-born Puerto Rican DJ Perly became the first woman to win the DMC United States finals. Paul David Dakeyne (born 30 January 1961), known by his stage name Tinman, is an English house music producer/remixer from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. In 1994, his single " Eighteen Strings" (also written as "18 Strings") became an international club hit. It was rumoured that the original bootleg recording of "Eighteen Strings" contained a sample of the riff from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana Nirvana, in the Indian religions (Jainism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism), is the concept of an individual's passions being extinguished as the ultimate state of salvation, release, or liberation from suffering ('' duḥkha'') and from the ..., and that the usage of the sample was disallowed, therefore it was reproduced for commercial release. Peter Slaghuis
Peter Slaghuis (; 21 August 1961 – 5 September 1991) was a Dutch DJ, record producer and remixer, whose work was mostly released under the name Hithouse (a literal translation of his last name — ''slag'', a hit, a beat; and ''huis'', house). Early years Slaghuis was born in Rijswijk, Netherlands on 21 August 1961 to Helen (born in Malang, Indonesia) and Charles Slaghuis. As a child, he was already unlucky, as he was always ill and would be in hospital. Fortunately, he got better when he turned 10, and grew into a healthy boy. Stephen John Anderson (born 1969 in Southend-on-Sea) is a British musician, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his work with Kylie Minogue on her tours and albums, and as part of the production group Brothers in Rhythm. Dave Seaman (born 29 April 1968) is a British DJ and record producer. He was formerly a member of the DMC Publishing, and editor of music magazine ''Mixmag''. Mark Chadwick (born 28 November 1969), better known by his stage name Chad Jackson, is an English DJ, remixer and record producer. He is best known for his hit single " Hear the Drummer (Get Wicked)", but he also created member-only mixes for the Disco Mix Club (DMC). Music career Jackson was born in St Helens, Merseyside, England. He won the DMC World Championships competition in 1987. His career started in 1990 with his debut single " Hear the Drummer (Get Wicked)", which consisted of samples. L.A. Mix were a British group composed of DMC mixer and club DJ Les Adams (29 November 1955 – 2 September 2019), his production partner and wife Emma Freilich and multi-instrumentalist Mike Stevens. All of the group's seven singles charted on the UK Singles Chart. Biography L.A. Mix consisted of then husband-and-wife team Les Adams and Emma Freilich, and Mike Stevens. Their first hit was in 1987, "Don't Stop (Jammin')", which was based on a simple 8-track demo that Adams had formed in his home studio, and made No. 47 on the UK Singles Chart. That record got L.A. Mix in trouble, as the bassline had been taken from the song "Love Is the Message", resulting in Vincent Montana Jr. attempting to take an injunction out on the group.
