Democratic Left Party (Turkey)
The Democratic Left Party (, DSP) is a Turkish political party, founded on 14 November 1985 by Rahşan Ecevit. History 1985–1999 The DSP, a social-democratic oriented party, was registered on 14 November 1985 by Rahşan Ecevit, wife of Bülent Ecevit, as he was banned from political life after the 1980 coup d'état. In 1986, Bülent Ecevit addressed the DSP convention in Ankara, declaring his support for the party. The address landed him in court for allegedly violating the political bans. The DSP was unable, however, to achieve a substantial showing in the 1986 Turkish parliamentary by-elections even though Ecevit, despite his ban, continued to campaign at the party's rallies as a "guest speaker". The political ban on Ecevit was lifted following a referendum in 1987. Later that year, Rahşan Ecevit handed over the rule of the party to her spouse. But the party failed to pass the 10% national threshold needed for a political party to have a seat in Parliament in the ...

Deep-lying Playmaker
In the sport of association football, a midfielder takes an outfield position primarily in the middle of the pitch. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments. The size of midfield units on a team and their assigned roles depend on which formation is used; the unit of these players on the pitch is commonly referred to as the midfield. Its name derives from the fact that midfield units typically make up the in-between units to the defensive units and forward units of a formation. Managers frequently assign one or more midfielders to disrupt the opposing team's attacks, while others may be tasked with creating goals, or have ...

Delta Lambda Phi
Delta Lambda Phi Social Fraternity (, DLP, or Lambda) is an American social fraternity for gay, bisexual, transgender and progressive men. The fraternity was founded in 1986 in Washington, D.C.Mok, Frank (13 August 2007).A brotherhood for Us. ''Advocate.com''. Retrieved 28 January 2014. It offers a social environment and structure similar to other Greek-model college fraternities. It was the first, and as of 2013, the only, national fraternity with an emphasis on gay and bisexual men. History Delta Lambda Phi was founded in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 1986, by Vernon L. Strickland III. A fellow student on his university campus had been denied fraternity membership due to the presumption that he was gay. When Strickland became aware of other examples of this, he began organizing a fraternity with a more welcoming model that would not discriminate based on sexual orientation. Strickland wrote the fraternity's ritual, selected a name and its symbols, and advertised for rush. ...

CT Scan
A computed tomography scan (CT scan), formerly called computed axial tomography scan (CAT scan), is a medical imaging technique used to obtain detailed internal images of the body. The personnel that perform CT scans are called radiographers or radiology technologists. CT scanners use a rotating X-ray tube and a row of detectors placed in a gantry (medical), gantry to measure X-ray Attenuation#Radiography, attenuations by different tissues inside the body. The multiple X-ray measurements taken from different angles are then processed on a computer using tomographic reconstruction algorithms to produce Tomography, tomographic (cross-sectional) images (virtual "slices") of a body. CT scans can be used in patients with metallic implants or pacemakers, for whom magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is Contraindication, contraindicated. Since its development in the 1970s, CT scanning has proven to be a versatile imaging technique. While CT is most prominently used in medical diagnosis, i ...

Dyslipidemia
Dyslipidemia is a metabolic disorder characterized by abnormally high or low amounts of any or all lipids (e.g. fats, triglycerides, cholesterol, phospholipids) or lipoproteins in the blood. Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, which include coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral artery disease. Although dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, abnormal levels do not mean that lipid lowering agents need to be started. Other factors, such as comorbid conditions and lifestyle in addition to dyslipidemia, is considered in a cardiovascular risk assessment. In developed countries, most dyslipidemias are hyperlipidemias; that is, an elevation of lipids in the blood. This is often due to diet and lifestyle. Prolonged elevation of insulin resistance can also lead to dyslipidemia. Types Risk factors Risk factors include: * Family history of dyslipidemia * Current cigarette smokin ...

Document Liberation Project
The Document Foundation (TDF) is a non-profit organization that supports the development of LibreOffice, a free and open-source office suite. Established in 2010 by members of the OpenOffice.org community, TDF aims to provide a vendor-neutral platform for office software development, with a focus on the OpenDocument format. It is incorporated as a ''Stiftung'' (foundation) under German law. TDF was created amid concerns that Oracle Corporation—which had acquired Sun Microsystems, the original sponsor of OpenOffice.org—might discontinue or limit its development, similar to the fate of OpenSolaris. Organization The Document Foundation has several governing bodies that oversee its operations: * the Board of Directors, which represents the foundation and manages its day-to-day business * the Membership Committee, which organizes elections and approves new trustees * the Board of Trustees, who elect both the Board of Directors and the Membership Committee This structure refl ...

Discrete Logarithm
In mathematics, for given real numbers a and b, the logarithm \log_b(a) is a number x such that b^x=a. Analogously, in any group G, powers b^k can be defined for all integers k, and the discrete logarithm \log_b(a) is an integer k such that b^k=a. In arithmetic modulo an integer m, the more commonly used term is index: One can write k=\mathbb_b a \pmod (read "the index of a to the base b modulo m") for b^k \equiv a \pmod if b is a primitive root of m and \gcd(a,m)=1. Discrete logarithms are quickly computable in a few special cases. However, no efficient method is known for computing them in general. In cryptography, the computational complexity of the discrete logarithm problem, along with its application, was first proposed in the Diffie–Hellman problem. Several important algorithms in public-key cryptography, such as ElGamal, base their security on the hardness assumption that the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) over carefully chosen groups has no efficient solution. ...

Data Loss Prevention Software
Data loss prevention (DLP) software detects potential data breaches/data exfiltration transmissions and prevents them by monitoring, detecting and blocking sensitive data while ''in use'' (endpoint actions), ''in motion'' ( network traffic), and ''at rest'' (data storage). The terms " data loss" and " data leak" are related and are often used interchangeably.Asaf Shabtai, Yuval Elovici, Lior Rokach,A Survey of Data Leakage Detection and Prevention Solutions Springer-Verlag New York Incorporated, 2012 Data loss incidents turn into data leak incidents in cases where media containing sensitive information are lost and subsequently acquired by an unauthorized party. However, a data leak is possible without losing the data on the originating side. Other terms associated with data leakage prevention are information leak detection and prevention (ILDP), information leak prevention (ILP), content monitoring and filtering (CMF), information protection and control (IPC) and extrusion preve ...
