Black Army Jacket
Black Army Jacket was an American powerviolence band. They released one album and many 7-inch EPs, splits and compilation appearances. Their members have gone on to play in such bands as Municipal Waste, Deny the Cross, Matt Pond PA, Burnt by the Sun and Hope Collapse. Biography The band was started by Andrew Orlando (ex-guitarist of Milhouse and owner of Reservoir Records) and Carlos Ramirez after they met at a Fugazi show on Long Island, NY. They were both fans of bands like Terrorizer, Assück and Napalm Death and wanted to create a band in those styles. Halfman drummer Dan Crowell and Adverse Possession, Those of Us bassist Chris Russo were quickly recruited. They were both in high school at the time. The band rehearsed original material for a few weeks until scene veteran Rob Lawi joined in on lead vocals. Dave Witte
Dave Witte (born August 11, 1971) is an American drummer. He is known for his work in numerous extreme metal or hardcore punk bands including Municipal Waste, Melt-Banana, Discordance Axis, Black Army Jacket, Birds of Prey, Burnt by the Sun, and Deny the Cross among others. He has also played as a session drummer for many other acts. Early life Witte is a New Jersey native. He relocated to Richmond, Virginia to join Municipal Waste. He has been the drummer on numerous albums since 1990. He plays many styles of drumming while retaining heavy aspects of music in all his projects. James Plotkin is an American guitarist and producer known for his role in bands such as Khanate and OLD but with an extensive catalogue outside these bands. Deny the Cross is an American powerviolence band. Founded in 2013, the group features drummer Dave Witte (Municipal Waste, Discordance Axis, Burnt by the Sun), vocalist Carlos Ramirez (Black Army Jacket), guitarist Dan Lactose ( Spazz), and bassist Ramon Salcido (Agents of Satan, Plutocracy). Burnt by the Sun was an American metalcore band formed in 1999 from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Burnt by the Sun is described as a fusion of metalcore, mathcore, and grindcore, as well as "post-hardcore extreme metal". History Burnt by the Sun formed in November 1999 by ex- Human-Remains-drummer Dave Witte and guitarist John Adubato.
