The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'' in 2006, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by the soap's executive producer, Keith Richardson (television executive), Keith Richardson. Samson Dingle Samson Dingle, played by Sam Hall, is the son of Sam Dingle, Sam (James Hooton) and Alice Dingle (Ursula Holden-Gill). He has appeared since January 2006. The character has also been played by other actors in the past, one being Ben Shooter, who was controversially sacked in 2008 for "crying on set". Following this, Shooter's mother Emma slammed producer Anita Turner and claimed that he was treated like a "prop" and that he had to film "horrifying" scenes. Charity Dingle (also Tate, Sharma and Macey) is a fictional character from the British television soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Emma Atkins. Suranne Jones originally auditioned for the role of Charity prior to Atkins being cast in the role. The actress began filming her first scenes in February 2000, and she made her first screen appearance as Charity during the episode broadcast on 30 March 2000. Ursula Holden-Gill
Ursula Holden-Gill (born 2 January 1974) is an English actress and dramatherapist, best known for her roles as school secretary Carol on Channel 4's comedy drama ''Teachers'' (2001–2004), Alice Dingle on ITV's soap opera ''Emmerdale'' (2004–2006) and Miss Fitzgerald on CBBC's '' Wolfblood'' (2012–2014). James Hooton
James Hooton (born 13 July 1973) is an English actor, best known for his role as Sam Dingle on the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', a role he has played since 1995. Early and personal life Hooton was born and raised in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, where he attended Frank Wheldon Comprehensive School. Sarah Sugden is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Katie Hill since January 2017. Eli Dingle
Eli Dingle is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Joe Gilgun. He first appeared on screen in the episode which aired on 13 July 2006 and made his last appearance on 30 April 2010. He is the younger brother of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock). Marlon Dingle is a fictional character from the British television soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Mark Charnock. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 17 October 1996. Shadrach Dingle
Shadrach Dingle is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Shadrach Dingle was played by Andy Devine whose character debuted during 2674th episode of Emmerdale which aired on 30 March 2000. Since early 2010, the character appeared occasionally on an episodic basis after Devine felt he could not keep up with the busy schedule.
