DER FAUST Award
Der Faust, officially ''Deutscher Theaterpreis Der Faust'', is a German theatre prize, a national prize from 2006. It is awarded annually by the organizations Deutscher Bühnenverein, , Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste and the state in which the award ceremony is held. The trophy was designed by the Austrian stage designer Erich Wonder. A jury of mostly members of the Bühnenverein considers proposals from theatres which may not name their own productions. The Jury selects three nominations per category, from which members of the Deutschen Akademie der Darstellenden Künste elect the winners. Deutscher Bühnenverein
The Deutscher Bühnenverein is an organization representing 430 theatres, opera houses, drama, ballet and opera companies and orchestras in Germany. It is involved in artistic, legal, organisational and political questions relevant to its members and publishes annual reports. The Deutscher Bühnenverein is based in Cologne. History It was started in Oldenburg (city), Oldenburg in 1846 under its first president Karl Theodor von Küstner, of the Königliches Schauspiel in Berlin. The Nazi Propaganda Ministry banned it in 1935 and it was not re-founded until 1947. In 1990, the East German Deutscher Bühnenbund merged with the Bühnenverein. Functions As an association of artists' employers, the Bühnenverein negotiates with trade unions about both pay and working conditions and is involved in arbitration. Michael Volle
Michael Volle (; born 1960) is a German operatic baritone. After engagements at several German and Swiss opera houses, he has worked freelance since 2011. While he first appeared in Mozart roles such as Guglielmo, Papageno and Don Giovanni, he moved on to title roles such as Verdi's Falstaff, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Alban Berg's Wozzeck. He has performed at major opera houses in Europe and the Metropolitan Opera, in roles including Mandryka in ''Arabella'' and Hans Sachs in ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''. Bridget Breiner
Bridget Breiner (born 1974) is an American dancer and choreographer. Since 1991, she lives and works mainly in Germany. Breiner was born in Connecticut and brought up in Columbus, Ohio, where she received her early dance training. At 17, she furthered her dance studies in Munich, Germany, at the Heinz Bosl Foundation. Her first engagement was with the Bayerisches Staatsballett before she joined the Stuttgart Ballet in 1996 and became First Soloist there in 2001. Between 2006 and 2008, Breiner was a member of the Semperoper Ballet. Since 2008, she was artist-in-residence at the Stuttgart Ballet, but she also worked as a freelance choreographer. Christian Gerhaher (born 24 July 1969, in Straubing) is a German baritone and bass singer in opera and concert, particularly known as a Lieder singer. Martin Kušej
Martin Kušej (born 14 May 1961) is an Austrian theatre and opera director, and is director of the Burgtheater Vienna. According to German news magazine Focus, Kušej belongs to the ten most important theatre directors who have emerged in the German-speaking world since the millennium. He is considered one of the most important directors working today, acclaimed for his dark and incisive productions. Born into the Slovene-speaking minority in the Austrian state of Carinthia he studied German, Literature and Sport Sciences at the University of Graz from 1979–82. Dominique Horwitz (born 23 April 1957) is a French film and television actor and singer. Life Horwitz was born on 23 April 1957 in Paris, France, to German Jewish refugee parents, who had both fled Nazi Germany. In 1971 the family moved to Berlin. Neco Celik
Manoel Nunes (March 7, 1895 – May 31, 1977), also known as Neco, was an association football midfielder and striker. With great skill and tenacity, he was the first idol of Corinthians, being the first player to get a statue in the team's gardens (in 1929). As of 2006, Neco is the player who played the longest for Corinthians: 17 years. Called often to the Brazil national team, he won two South American Championships: 1919 (team's top scorer) and 1922 (top scorer). Playing for Corinthians, he won the Paulista League eight times as a player (being top scorer in 1914 and 1920) and once as a coach (1937). Eva-Maria Westbroek (born 26 April 1970) is a Dutch soprano opera singer. Training Westbroek studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague from 1988 to 1995. Her vocal teachers included Iris Adami Corradetti and the American tenor James McCray.
