DD Retro
DD Retro was an Indian Hindi-language TV channel. It was launched by Prasar Bharati on 13 April 2020. It was a free-to-air general entertainment channel on which old classic shows of Doordarshan are telecasted, DD Retro channel has been added to Doordarshan's DTT service which is available in 19 cities across India. It is primarily dedicated to telecast Doordarshan's old classic TV productions from the 80s and 90s, many being the country's highest rating series ever produced for television. The channel was shutdown on 31 March 2023. Doordarshan
Doordarshan (), abbreviated as DD, is India's State-owned enterprise, state-owned public broadcasting, public television broadcaster. Established by the Government of India on 15 September 1959, it is owned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (India), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and constitutes one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions. Doordarshan, one of India's largest broadcasting organisations in studio and transmitter infrastructure, delivers television, radio, online, and mobile services across metropolitan and regional India, and internationally. It also broadcasts via digital terrestrial transmitters. Chandraprakash Dwivedi
Chandraprakash Dwivedi (born 26 February 1960) is an Indian actor, film director and screenwriter, who is best known for directing the 1991 television epic ''Chanakya'' in which he also played the title role of the political strategist Chanakya and an inspiration for millions. He has also directed the 1996 television series '' Mrityunjay'' which is based on the life of Karna, one of the main characters of the epic Mahabharata, for which he won a ''Screen Videocon Best Director'' award. His other major work is the 2003 film '' Pinjar'', a tragic love story set amidst the Hindu-Muslim tensions during the Partition of India, based on Amrita Pritam's novel of the same name. Vishnu Puran (TV Series)
''Vishnu Puran'' (also written ''Vishnupuran'') is an Indian television series, by B. R. Chopra on the Hindu deity Vishnu. It is based on the ''Bhagavata Purana''. ''Bhagavata Purana'' tells about the 10 incarnations of Vishnu, as well as other stories, such as the legend of Dhruva. The weekly series first aired Sunday morning, 23 January 2000 on Zee TV. The 124 episodes were later released on DD National. The chief roles are played by Nitish Bharadwaj as Bhagwan Vishnu and Vaidehi Amrute as Devi Lakshmi. Nitish Bharadwaj previously played the role of Krishna, in Chopra's television adaptation of the epic ''Mahabharat''. The Story was narrated by Lata Haya in the role of Dharti Maa. Arun Govil ( ; ; born 12 January 1952) is an Indian actor and politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Jungle Book (1989 TV Series)
is a Japanese anime adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's original collection of stories, ''The Jungle Book'' produced by Nippon Animation in co-production with Italian animation studio Mondo TV and Doro TV Merchandising. It aired in 1989, and consists of a total of 52 episodes. The series, a compromise between the original Mowgli stories and the Walt Disney version, received international acclaim and was aired in different countries around the world. ''Rajani'' is an Indian television series which aired on Doordarshan directed by Basu Chatterjee. It had Priya Tendulkar in lead role. It became immensely popular for creating awareness among lax government offices and officials. Shah Rukh Khan and Subhash Ghai had cameo appearances in two episodes. It was written by Karan Razdan and Anil Chaudhary, with the title track being sung by Asha Bhosle. Premise Rajani fights government laxity in every episode. ''Buniyaad'' () is an Indian television soap opera directed by Ramesh Sippy and Jyoti Sarup. The series was written by Manohar Shyam Joshi and dealt with the Partition of India in 1947 and its aftermath. It was first aired in 1986 on the Indian state television channel DD National.
