D.V. Paluskar
Pandit Dattatreya Vishnu Paluskar (28 May 1921 – 26 October 1955), was a Hindustani classical vocalist. He was considered a child prodigy. Early life and background D.V. Paluskar was born in Nasik, Bombay Presidency to well-known Hindustani musician Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. His original surname waGadgil but as they hailed from the village Palus (near Sangli), they came to be known as the "Paluskar" family. He was only ten years old when his father died, and was subsequently trained by Vinayakrao Patwardhan, Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan and Narayanrao Vyas, Pandit Narayanrao Vyas. He was also trained by Pandit Chintamanrao Paluskar and Pandit Mirashi Buwa. Career and life D.V. Paluskar gave his debut performance at the Harballabh Fair, Harvallabh Sangeet Sammelan in Punjab at the age of fourteen. Baiju Bawra (1952 Film)
''Baiju Bawra'' () is a 1952 Hindi musical romantic drama film directed by Vijay Bhatt. Produced by Prakash Pictures, with story by Ramchandra Thakur and dialogues by Zia Sarhadi, Baiju Bawra was a musical "megahit" which had a mighty 100-week run in the theatres. Bhatt's decision to make a film based on classical music was met with scepticism by the Indian film industry due to its "lack of mass appeal", but the film and music turned out be an "overwhelming success". The film's music director was Naushad, who had become popular giving folk-based music in films such as ''Rattan'', , '' Shahjehan'' (1946) and '' Deedar'' (1951). With Bhatt's ''Baiju Bawra'', Naushad introduced a classical component in Hindi film songs. The soundtrack was based on classical ragas, such as Puriya Dhanashree, Todi, Malkauns, Darbari and Desi. Amir Khan (singer)
Ustad Amir Khan (; 15 August 1912 – 13 February 1974) was an Indian singer and musician in the Hindustani classical tradition. He was the founder of the Indore gharana. Early life and background Amir Khan was born in a family of musicians in Kalanaur, India. His father, Shahmir Khan, a sarangi and veena player of the Bhendibazaar gharana, served at the court of the Holkars of Indore. His grandfather, Change Khan, was a singer in the court of Bahadurshah Zafar. Amir Ali's mother died when he was nine years old. He had a younger brother, Bashir, who went on to become a sarangi player at the Indore station of All India Radio. He was initially trained in the sarangi by his father.
