D.C. United–New England Revolution Rivalry
The D.C. United–New England Revolution rivalry is a Association football, soccer sports rivalry, rivalry between D.C. United and the New England Revolution, who both play in the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer. The two clubs were among the 10 founding members of MLS, and began playing against each other regularly since 1996. The rivalry intensified in the mid-2000s as the two clubs were among the premier franchises in MLS, although recently it has been seen as a secondary, yet fierce rivalry, between the two clubs. Throughout most of the rivalry's history, the series has been fairly evenly matched between the Revolution and United, with both teams tied in total all-time wins, 37 all. During the 1990s, D.C. United were dominate over the New England Revolution, while in the 2020s, New England were dominate over D.C. New England Revolution
The New England Revolution are an American professional association football, soccer club based in the Greater Boston area. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference. It is one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its 1996 Major League Soccer season, inaugural season. The club is owned by Robert Kraft, who also owns the New England Patriots along with his son, Jonathan Kraft. The name "Revolution" refers to the New England region's significant involvement in the American Revolution that took place from 1775 to 1783. New England plays their home matches at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, located 21 miles (34 km) southwest of downtown Boston. The club played their home games at the adjacent and now-demolished Foxboro Stadium, from 1996 until 2001.
