Chablais () was a province of the Duchy of Savoy. Its capital was Thonon-les-Bains. Chablais was elevated to a duchy in 1311 by Henry VII, Holy Roman Emperor. This region is currently divided into three territories, the ''Chablais savoyard'', the ''Chablais valaisan'', and the ''Chablais vaudois'', and is now split across two countries: France (department of Haute-Savoie) and Switzerland (cantons of Valais and Vaud). The Chablais Alps is a mountain range situated between the two countries, but the Chablais region itself also includes a large portion of the Vaud Alps and the Rhône Valley from Saint-Maurice, Switzerland, to Lake Geneva. Transports Publics Du Chablais
The Transports Publics du Chablais (TPC) is a transportation company that operates various rail and bus services in the Chablais region, at the eastern end of Lake Geneva. It was formed in 1999 from the merger of four companies. History A precursor of the TPC was the Transports Publics du Chablais Operating Community (french: a Communauté d'exploitation des Transports Publics du Chablais), which was formed in 1975 to improve coordination between various companies in the Chablais region. Three railways were involved at first: * Chemin de fer Aigle-Leysin (AL) * Chemin de fer Aigle-Sépey-Diablerets (ASD) * Chemin de fer Bex-Villars-Bretaye (BVB) A fourth, the Chemin de fer Aigle-Ollon-Monthey-Champéry (AOM), joined in 1977. Thonon-les-Bains (; frp, Tonon), often simply referred to as Thonon, is a subprefecture of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Eastern France. The Chablais Alps are a mountain range in the western Alps. They are situated between Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc Massif.
