Niftrik
Niftrik is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Wijchen, about 4 km southwest of that town. The village was first mentioned in 1117 as Nifterka. The etymology is unclear. The first church was built in 1308. After the Eighty Years' War, it became a Dutch Reformed church. In 1715, the Catholics built a clandestine church in the village. In 1795, the village church was returned to Roman Catholic church. A new church was constructed between 1891 and 1892. On 10 May 1940, the day of the German invasion of the Netherlands, the church as well as the houses which were visible over the dike were demolished by the Dutch army in order to have an unobstructed view. The church was rebuilt later that year. Niftrik was home to 327 people 1840. Niftrik was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was merged with Wijchen. Balgoij
Balgoij or Balgoy is a village in Gelderland, Netherlands, near the river Meuse. It belongs to the Wijchen municipality. Until 1923, Balgoij was a separate municipality. In 1958, the hamlet of was transferred to Oss in North Brabant North Brabant ( ; ), also unofficially called Brabant, Dutch Brabant or Hollandic Brabant, is a province in the south of the Netherlands. Hernen
Hernen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Wijchen, about 13 km west of Nijmegen. History The village was first mentioned around 1214 as Harnen, and may mean "stony place". Hernen developed on a ridge around Huis te Hernen. Huis te Hernen was a castle which dates from the 14th century and consists of a round tower and four wings around a central square. It was originally a square keep surrounded by a wall. The eastern wing with gate was the last addition in 1555. Hernen was home to 450 people in 1840. The Catholic St Judocus Church was built between 1891 and 1892. Bergharen
Bergharen is a village in the Netherlands, in the municipality of Wijchen. It was a separate municipality until 1984. There is a windmill, De Verrekijker, Bergharen, De Verrekijker, which has been converted to a holiday cottage. The village was first mentioned in the 12th century as Haren, and means "hill on a sandy ridge". The tower of the Dutch Reformed Church dates from the 14th century and has 12th century elements. The nave was built between 1475 and 1525. The original choir was demolished and replaced in 1826. The Catholic St Anna Church was constructed in 1893. In 1840, it was home to 734 people. Batenburg
Batenburg is a city in the municipality of Wijchen, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located on the Meuse, about 15 km west of Nijmegen. It is well known for the remains of a medieval fort in the center of the town. Batenburg received city rights in 1349. Until 1984, Batenburg was a separate municipality. It was first mentioned in 1166 as Battenburg. The etymology in unclear. Batenburg developed around Batenburg Castle. In 1347, it received city rights., and by 1400, had walls and two city gates. Fredericus Jacobus Rutten (; born 5 December 1962) is a Dutch football coach and former player. As a player, he spent his entire career with Twente during the years 1979 to 1992. Following his playing career, Rutten also managed Twente, before moving on to clubs like Schalke 04, PSV Eindhoven, SBV Vitesse, Feyenoord, Al Shabab, Maccabi Haifa and more recently Anderlecht. Ronald van der Kemp (born 24 September 1964 in Wijchen, Netherlands) is a Dutch fashion designer and founder of demi-couture fashion house RVDK Ronald van der Kemp, his namesake label.
