Whitefish (fisheries Term)
Whitefish or white fish is a fisheries term for several species of demersal fish with fins, particularly Atlantic cod (''Gadus morhua''), whiting (fish), whiting (''Merluccius bilinearis''), haddock (''Melanogrammus aeglefinus''), Phycidae, hake (''Urophycis''), and pollock (''Pollachius''), among others. Whitefish live on or near the seafloor, and can be contrasted with the Oily fish, oily or pelagic fish, which live away from the seafloor. Whitefish do not have much fish oil, oil in their tissue, and have flakier white or light-coloured flesh. Most of the oil found in their bodies is concentrated in the organs, e.g. cod liver oil. Whitefish Range
The Whitefish Range is a mountain range stretching north-south from British Columbia, Canada to Montana, United States. It is about long and wide. Water flowing from its east side drains down the North Fork Flathead River and its west side drains into the Whitefish River, both part of the Columbia River drainage basin. The mountain range is located north of Columbia Falls and Whitefish in the Flathead Valley, and east of Eureka. The Flathead River separates it from the Swan Range, which would otherwise continue the mountain range southwards. The Whitefish Range, however, is not particularly high. Whitefish Township is a civil township of Chippewa County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 474 at the 2020 census. With a land area of , Whitefish Township is the sixth-largest municipality in the state by land area and among the least-densely populated. Whitefish Bay is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,954 at the 2020 census. A suburb north of Milwaukee along the shore of Lake Michigan, it is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. History In the early 19th century when the first white settlers arrived, the Whitefish Bay area was controlled by Native Americans, including the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk people. The area came under the control of the United States Federal Government in 1832 when the Menominee surrendered their claims to the land by signing the '' Treaty of Washington''. Whitefish Mountain Resort is a ski resort on Big Mountain in northwestern Montana. It is west of Glacier National Park in the Flathead National Forest, from the town of Whitefish, west of Columbia Falls, and north of Kalispell. History Winter Sports, Inc. Whitefish (Montana Salish, Salish: epɫx̣ʷy̓u, "has whitefish") is a city in Flathead County, Montana, United States. According to the 2020 United States census, there were 7,751 people in the city. History Archaeological records indicate that native American tribes shared hunting grounds in the area, most notably the Kootenai, the Pend d'Oreilles, and the Bitterroot Salish peoples, Salish.
