Trier-Saarburg
Trier-Saarburg (; ) is a district in the west of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the north and clockwise) Bitburg-Prüm, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Birkenfeld, Sankt Wendel (Saarland), and Merzig-Wadern (Saarland). To the west it borders Luxembourg. The district-free city Trier is surrounded by the district. History The district was created in 1969 by merging the previous districts Trier and Saarburg. Geography The main river in the district is the Moselle. The area between its tributaries, the Ruwer and the Saar, is also well known as one of the prime wine Wine is an alcoholic drink made from Fermentation in winemaking, fermented fruit. Hermeskeil
Hermeskeil () is a city in the Trier-Saarburg district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated in the Hunsrück, approx. 25 km southeast of Trier. Its population is about 5,900. Data Hermeskeil is the seat of the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") Hermeskeil. The old locomotive depot, Bahnbetriebswerk Hermeskeil is now a museum housing German steam engines. Ruwer (Verbandsgemeinde)
Ruwer is a ''Verbandsgemeinde'' (collective municipality) with 18,171 inhabitants (as at Dec 2015) on the river Ruwer near Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is famous for the wine from the Moselle wine-growing region, which used to be called Moselle-Saar-Ruwer, and which was founded by the Romans. The administrative seat used to be located in Ruwer, which was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the city of Trier. The seat has been located in Waldrach since November 2005. Bitburg-Prüm
The Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm () is a district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) Luxembourg, Belgium and the districts of Euskirchen, Vulkaneifel, Bernkastel-Wittlich and Trier-Saarburg. Bernkastel-Wittlich (German language, German: ''Landkreis Bernkastel-Wittlich'') is a district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Vulkaneifel, Cochem-Zell, Rhein-Hunsrück, Birkenfeld (district), Birkenfeld, Trier-Saarburg and Bitburg-Prüm. History The district was established in 1969 by merging the former districts of Bernkastel and Wittlich.
