Syberia
''Syberia'' is a franchise of graphic adventure games created by Belgian comic artist and video game developer Benoît Sokal. Set within an alternate universe designed by Sokal and introduced in the 1999 video game ''Amerzone'', the series is currently developed and published by French video game company Microids. The central focus of the franchise, beginning with the Syberia (video game), eponymous 2002 video game, follows the experiences of Kate Walker (Syberia), Kate Walker, an American adventurer who originally worked as a lawyer in a prominent New York City law firm. In each installment, Walker travels to various fictional locations in continental Europe and former Soviet states during the 2000s, where she encounters fantastical creatures as well as highly advanced automatons powered by intricate clockwork mechanisms. Syberia II
''Syberia II'' is a 2004 graphic adventure game developed and published by MC2-Microïds. As the direct sequel to 2002's ''Syberia'', it is a third-person puzzle-solving game. Although it is stylistically identical, ''Syberia II'' improves upon the first game by introducing more realistic character animation. The game includes a recap of the first chapter, so it does not require the player to have experienced the first game. ''Syberia II'' achieved global sales of 600,000 units by early 2006. The game was received favorably by critics. Kate Walker (Syberia)
Katherine "Kate" Walker is a character from the ''Syberia'' video game franchise developed and published by Microids. A lawyer from New York City, she is the central character of franchise media beginning with the first ''Syberia'', where she is tasked with overseeing the purchase of the Voralberg automaton factory on behalf of her employer. She later abandons her assignment, as well as her life and career back in the United States, to accompany the factory's heir in his search for the legendary island of Syberia, a sacred site to a fictional indigenous Siberian tribe known as the Youkols and is said to be home to the world's last surviving mammoths. ''Amerzone'' (also known as ''Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy'', ) is a first-person fantasy graphic adventure game published by Microïds and designed by Benoît Sokal, who based it on his 1986 '' Inspector Canardo'' comic strip ''L'Amerzone''. ''Amerzone'' was originally released for Microsoft Windows, the classic Mac OS and PlayStation in 1999, and re-released for iOS and Android in 2014 by Anuman Interactive, whom had bought out Microïds in 2009. A remake was released on April 24th, 2025. Like the comic, the game tells the story of a French explorer, Alexandre Valembois, who goes on an expedition to the mysterious South American country of Amerzone. XS Games
XS Games, LLC was a New York-based publisher of value-priced video games, operating in North America and Europe, that released titles on numerous different consoles as well as one title on the iPhone. Despite having no new releases since 2011, their web site continued to stay online and in 2018, was updated to show that they were now part of ePartners LLC and that their corporate headquarters had been moved to a residential address.
