The J.League Cup / Copa Sudamericana Championship was an annual intercontinental football match held in Japan, contested by the reigning champions of the J.League Cup and the Copa Sudamericana. The tournament was previously officially called the Suruga Bank Championship between 2008 and 2018 due to sponsorship reasons. Starting in 2019, it was the J. League YBC Levain Cup / CONMEBOL Sudamericana Championship Final, using the official names of the two qualifying tournaments. The stadium is in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, although the stadium itself is merely the centrepiece of the larger Ogasayama Sports Park which extends into neighbouring Kakegawa. The 2011 Suruga Bank Championship (; ) was the fourth edition of the Suruga Bank Championship, the club football match co-organized by the Japan Football Association, the football governing body of Japan, and CONMEBOL, the football governing body of South America, between the winners of the previous season's J. League Cup and Copa Sudamericana. It was contested by Japanese club Júbilo Iwata, the 2010 J. League Cup champion, and Argentine club Independiente, the 2010 Copa Sudamericana champion. Júbilo Iwata won 4–2 in penalty shootout, after drawing 2–2 in the ninety minutes of play. Qualified teams Rules The Suruga Bank Championship is played over one match, hosted by the winner of the J. was a multi-purpose stadium in Kasumigaoka, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The stadium served as the main stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as being the venue for track and field events at the 1964 Summer Olympics. The Japan national football team's home matches and major football club cup finals were held at the stadium. The stadium's official capacity was 57,363, but the seating capacity was only 48,000 seats. The 2010 Suruga Bank Championship (; ) was the third edition of the match between the winners of the previous season's J. League Cup and the Copa Sudamericana. It was contested by the 2009 J. League Cup winner Tokyo and the 2009 Copa Sudamericana champion Ecuadorian club LDU Quito. Qualified teams Rules The match was played normally according to the rules of the games, with a penalty shootout if the score was tied at the end of regulation. The official match ball was the Adidas Jabulani, the same used in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Each team was allowed to bring a squad of 18 players for the match and used seven squad changes during the match.
