Djemah
Djemah is a town and sub-prefecture in the Haut-Mbomou Prefecture of the south-eastern Central African Republic. It is the least-populous sub-prefecture in the country. The town is largely neglected by the central government since the country gained independence from France in 1960. Etymology The town is named after local chief Djemah, who was accused of murder by French colonial officials and executed in Bangui in 1914. History Djemah was founded as a French colonial post in March 1897. On 5 October 2009, 60 LRA fighters led by Major Olanya attacked Djemah to obtain food and kidnap the locals. As they arrived at the town, they shot in the air to warn the town residents, thus leading them to flee the town and alert the Ugandan soldiers who had arrived in Djemah last night. Mala, Central African Republic
Mala is a sub-prefecture of Kémo in the Central African Republic. Geography The locality is located on the regional road RR11, linking Dékoa to Grimari. History Around 1890, warriors Ouakili and Nguerebare sowed terror in Gama located on the Kouma coast, going back to the Mbrès. As a result of a dispute, the separation of two friends in 1902 led to the exodus led by Yabalangba. After months of flight, Yabalangba settled on the borders of Malan and Zimenzéré. Yabalangba became chief of Earth. He built a fort called Gban whose remains are still visible today. Recognized as Chief of Canton in 1915, Yabalangba reigned from 1915 to 1945. Sibut
Sibut (), formerly Fort Sibut () is the capital of Kémo, one of the 16 prefectures of the Central African Republic. An important transport hub, it is situated north of the capital Bangui and is known for its market. Sibut is located at the Northern end of the paved road coming from the capital, Bangui. At Sibut, two major provincial roads split, one going North to Kaga Bandoro, and the other east towards Bomimi, a thriving agricultural village of 450 people, from Sibut. History The settlement was originally named Krébédjé after the local Dekpa chief of the same name. The French arrived in 1895 and Krébédjé, and they officially recognised him as chief the next year. The town was renamed Fort Sibut in 1900 after Medical Major Adolphe Pierre Sibut, a deceased friend of colonial official Émile Gentil. Dekoa
Dekoa (Dékoua) is a sub-prefecture and town in the Kémo Prefecture of the south-eastern Central African Republic. History In the nineteenth century freebooter Rabih az-Zubayr brought Dekoa under his sway and made it a part of the Bornu Empire. In March 1899, the sultan captured and imprisoned the explorer Ferdinand de Béhagle at Dekoa. Béhagle was subsequently hanged after the French battled the sultan's troops at Kouno in October of that year. Civil war On 28 December 2012 Séléka rebels took control of Dekoa. On 8 April 2014 Anti-balaka attacked ex-Seleka positions in Dekoa resulting in 30 deaths. On 17 August 2018 FACA was deployed in Dekoa. Three UN peacekeepers from Burundi were killed in Dekoa and Bakouma on December 26, 2020, one day before the 2020 Central African general election. Three Anti-balaka leaders in Kaga-Bandoro were arrested by international forces for ordering the attack.

Yalinga
Yalinga is a town and sub-prefecture in the Haute-Kotto prefecture of the central-eastern Central African Republic. History Yalinga was founded as a French post by Lieutenant Bissey on 1 March 1912 to anticipate any further attacks from Kamoun, the last sultan of Dar al Kuti, who was resisting French annexation. On 28 February 2010, LRA attacked Yalinga. They pillaged police station, weather station, a safari camp and kidnapped 26 people. Ouadda
Ouadda is a town located in the Central African Republic prefecture of Haute-Kotto. History Around November 2006, UFDR captured Ouadda. On 1 December 2006, FACA recaptured the town after facing a fierce battle with UFDR. On 10 December 2012, the rebels from Séléka seized Ouadda, as well as weapons left by fleeing soldiers. In 2021 Ouadda was under the control of ex-Séléka ''Rassemblement patriotique pour le renouveau de la Centrafrique'' (RPRC). On 12 February 2022 Russian mercenaries from Wagner Group attacked Ouadda killing RPRC leader Damane Zakaria together with 20 of his men. On 11 May 2022 FPRC and UPC rebels took control of Ouadda. Five soldiers were killed, six injured and four captured by rebels. In October 2023 rebels withdrew from Ouadda following increased presence of MINUSCA peacekeepers. Bria, Central African Republic
Bria is the capital of Haute-Kotto, one of the 14 Prefectures of the Central African Republic, prefectures of the Central African Republic. As of the 2003 census the town had a population of 35,204. Geography Bria is located on the Kotto River. History In 1930, a ginning factory was established in Bria by the Comouna cotton company. Civil war On 18 December 2012 Bria was captured by Séléka rebels.
