''Stillingia'' is a plant genus of the family (biology), family Euphorbiaceae, first described for modern science as a genus in 1767. The genus is native to Latin America, the southern United States, and various islands in the Pacific Ocean, Pacific and Indian Ocean, Indian Oceans. Toothleaf is a common name for plants in this genus. It is known to contain diterpene Ester, esters. It can grow up to 4 feet, but most Toothleaf do not. Medical use ''Stillingia sylvatica'' was used by Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Native Americans for syphilis and as a cathartic, diuretic, laxative, and emetic. In large doses, it causes vomiting and diarrhea. Stillingia root is one of the ingredients in Hoxsey Therapy, Hoxsey Herbal Therapy, which is promoted as an alternative cancer treatment. However, there is no medical evidence to support use of Stillingia to treat cancer, infections, or other medical conditions. ''Stillingia sylvatica'', known as queen's-delight or queen's delight, is a species of flowering plant in the family Euphorbiaceae. It was described in 1767. It is endemic to the south-central and southeastern United States, growing in sandy areas such as sandhills and pine flatwoods. It is an herb or subshrub averaging in height. It has alternate, ovate leaves with short petiole (botany), petioles, reaching in length and in width. The leaf margins are serrulate to crenulate with incurved teeth. Each crowded inflorescence has four to seven staminate flowers and three to four pistillate flowers. Queen's delight flowers between March and June, fruiting from April to September. Hoxsey Therapy or Hoxsey Method is an alternative medical treatment promoted as a cure for cancer. The treatment consists of a caustic herbal paste for external cancers or a herbal mixture for "internal" cancers, combined with laxatives, douches, vitamin supplements, and dietary changes.
