Summer
Summer or summertime is the hottest and brightest of the four temperate seasons, occurring after spring and before autumn. At or centred on the summer solstice, daylight hours are the longest and darkness hours are the shortest, with day length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The earliest sunrises and latest sunsets also occur near the date of the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to definition, climate, tradition, and culture. When it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and vice versa. Etymology The modern English ''summer'' derives from the Middle English ''somer'', via the Old English ''sumor''. Timing From an astronomical view, the equinoxes and solstices would be the middle of the respective seasons, but sometimes astronomical summer is defined as starting at the solstice, the time of maximal insolation, often identified with 21 June or 21 December. Sommar (radio Program)
''Sommar i P1'' () is one of the most popular shows on Swedish radio. It has been broadcast every summer since 29June 1959, originally as ''Sommar'' on P3 and since 1993 on P1. About Each 90-minute-long programme in the series – which is broadcast daily from Midsummer's day until the middle of August at 13:00 (a timeslot held since the first episode) and repeated in the late evening – is presented by a different host who talks about a topic of personal relevance and plays music of their own choosing. Being invited to host the show has been compared to receiving a knighthood in Sweden, and it has become the custom for each year's presenters to be featured in a group photograph, each wearing a floral crown known as a midsommarkrans as a mark of the "honour" bestowed upon them. The host has to speak Swedish (or, very occasionally, of another Scandinavian language). However, in 2014, intense international interest led to the production of an English-language edition prese ...

Idas Sommarvisa
"Idas sommarvisa" or "Du ska inte tro det blir sommar" is a song with a summertime theme. Astrid Lindgren wrote the lyrics and Georg Riedel composed the music. The song's three verses were performed by Lena Wisborg (as Ida) in the 1973 film '' Emil and the Piglet''. "Idas sommarvisa" has three verses, and is often sung during graduations, where it has been seen as a popular non-religious alternative to "Den blomstertid nu kommer" and " I denna ljuva sommartid". However, some people believe that the lyrics "ifall inte nån sätter fart" ("if nobody kicks off") may refer to God. An early recording was done in 1976 by Thor-Erics.
