Slamboree
Slamboree was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) List of NWA/WCW closed-circuit events and pay-per-view events, event from World Championship Wrestling (WCW) held from 1993 through 2000. It was originally billed as "A Legends' Reunion" because many retired legends from Jim Crockett Promotions attended the PPV and other events scheduled for that weekend. The first three Slamborees included inductions into the WCW Hall of Fame and also included matches with the legends participating. Since 2014, all Slamboree events are available on the WWE Network. WWE acquired the "Slamboree" trademark upon the sale of WCW's intellectual properties in 2001 which it allowed the trademark to expire in 2005. In November 2019, Cody Rhodes filed to claim the Slamboree trademark. List Of NWA/WCW Closed-circuit Events And Pay-per-view Events
This is a list of all closed-circuit television and pay-per-view events held by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and its predecessor Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP). From 1983 to 1987, these events aired live on closed-circuit television under the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) banner. Beginning in 1987, the events would air live on pay-per-view television. In November 1988, JCP sold its assets to the Turner Broadcasting System, which rebranded the company as World Championship Wrestling; they would later leave the NWA in 1991. In 1998 and early 1999, PPV events were promoted using the dual WCW/New World Order (professional wrestling), nWo brands. In 2001, the WWE, World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE) purchased the assets of WCW, including the WWE Libraries, video libraries of all previous NWA and WCW pay-per-views, and the ownership rights of the names of these events. Slamboree (1996)
The 1996 Slamboree was the fourth Slamboree professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The event took place on May 19, 1996 from the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The key feature of the event was a Lord of the Ring tournament, in which wrestlers were randomly paired in Lethal Lottery tag team matches to qualify for a Battlebowl battle royal and the winner of that battle royal would earn a title shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Diamond Dallas Page won the Battlebowl and earned the title of the Lord of the Ring. Aside from the Lord of the Ring tournament, three titles were defended on the card. WCW Hall Of Fame
The World Championship Wrestling (WCW) Hall of Fame was an American professional wrestling hall of fame maintained by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It was established in 1993 to honor wrestlers who began their careers long before the 1990s, mostly alumni of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)'s Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP) List of National Wrestling Alliance territories, territory, the predecessor of WCW. Inductees received commemorative plaques that had their names and portraits inscribed on them. The 1994 Slamboree: A Legends Reunion was the second Slamboree professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on May 22, 1994, at the Philadelphia Civic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2014, the event was made available for streaming on the WWE Network. Prior to Slamboree, WCW approached Eastern Championship Wrestling about cross-promoting with ECW's When Worlds Collide event, which was scheduled to take place in Philadelphia on May 14, 1994. Randy Mario Poffo (November 15, 1952 – May 20, 2011), better known by his ring name "Macho Man" Randy Savage, was an American professional wrestler and professional baseball player, best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, later WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The 2000 Slamboree was the eighth and final Slamboree professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on May 7, 2000 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. As of 2014 the event is available on the WWE Network. Ten matches were contested at the event. Slamboree '93: A Legends' Reunion was the inaugural Slamboree professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on May 23, 1993, at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia. Storylines The event featured wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. The 1995 Slamboree was the third Slamboree professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) List of NWA/WCW closed-circuit events and pay-per-view events, event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on May 21, 1995 from the Bayfront Arena in St. Petersburg, Florida. Eric Bischoff filled in on commentary for Tony Schiavone at this event; Schiavone took time off to undergo neck surgery. Wahoo McDaniel, Angelo Poffo, Terry Funk, Antonio Inoki, Dusty Rhodes, Gordon Solie and Big John Studd were inducted into the WCW Hall of Fame during the show, which also marked Solie's final appearance on a wrestling broadcast following an announcing career dating back to the 1950s. WCW International World Heavyweight Championship
The WCW International World Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship that was contested in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) between 1993 and 1994. Although it was owned and controlled by WCW, the championship was presented as the highest accolade of "WCW International", a fictitious subsidiary. The championship was contested at WCW events and at several events in Japan under the aegis of New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Paul Donald Wight II (born February 8, 1972) is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under his real name of Paul Wight. He is best known for his tenure with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from 1995 to 1999 as (The) Giant and his tenure with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, later World Wrestling Entertainment and WWE) from 1999 to 2021 under the ring name (The) Big Show.
