Strasbourg Illkirch-Graffenstaden Basket, most commonly known as SIG Basket or SIG Strasbourg, is a French professional basketball club that is based in Strasbourg. The club, founded in 1929, competes domestically in the French Pro A League. The club's home games are played at Rhénus Sport. The players wear white and red uniforms. History The club was founded in 1929, and reached the top-tier of French basketball for the first time in 1938. Starting from the 2004–05 season, new head coach Éric Girard took over the team. In the regular season, SIG finished 3rd and Giard was named Coach of the Year. Strasbourg won the top-tier French League for the first time in the 2004–05 season. SIG beat its rival SLUC Nancy 72–68. In the 2005–06 season, Strasbourg played in the EuroLeague. The team had some outstanding results, as they beat top-tier team Saski Baskonia. 2014–15 French Basketball Cup
The 204–15 French Basketball Cup season was the 38th season of the domestic cup competition of French basketball. The competition started on September 4, 2014 and ended on May 3, 2015. Strasbourg IG won its first title, after it beat ESSM Le Portel in the Final. Le Portel had an impressive run in the 2014–15 competition, as a Pro B team it beat several Pro A teams to go on to the championship game. After the 74–87 victory of Strasbourg, Louis Campbell was named the 2015 Most Valuable Player. Dominic Jordan Artis (born July 7, 1993) is an American-born Kosovan professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. College career Artis played NCAA Division I college basketball at the University of Oregon, with the Oregon Ducks men's basketball, Oregon Ducks, from 2012 to 2014. Filip Krušlin (born March 18, 1989) is a Croatian professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. Standing at 1.98 m, he plays at the shooting guard position. Professional career Filip Krušlin started his professional career in 2007-08 season, touted as a hot prospect for Cibona's future. Vitalis Chikoko (born 11 February 1991) is a Zimbabwean professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. Early life Chikoko started playing basketball at age 12 in Harare. Professional career Chikoko started his career in Zimbabwe with the Mbare Heat from Mbare, Harare, Mbare suburb in his hometown Harare. Massimo Maffezzoli (born 21 February 1976) is an Italian basketball coach, currently working as a assistant manager for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. The 2020–21 Basketball Champions League was the 5th season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), the premier European-wide professional basketball competition for clubs launched and managed by FIBA. Lassi Tuovi (born 31 December 1986) is a Finnish professional basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach for Yokohama B-Corsairs and the Finland national team. Career Tuovi guided the Finland national team in EuroBasket 2022, in his first international tournament as a head coach.
