EVV Echt, an abbreviation for Echter Voetbal Vereniging Echt, is an association football club from Echt-Susteren, Netherlands. Its colours are blue and white. The club was founded on 26 June 1926 and plays in the Vierde Divisie; the fifth tier of the Dutch football league system, Dutch football pyramid. They were one of the teams to participate in the first season of the newly established Derde Divisie, Topklasse league in 2010–11. History Early years The history of the sports club started in 1908, when the club EVV Sparta was founded. In 1925, this club went bankrupt. A year after EVV Sparta went bankrupt, EVV Echt was founded. The club was founded in the former Oranjehotel on the Jodenstraat. The first game was played on 24 October 1926, as EVV lost 2–4 to Helden. In 1931, EVV won a championship for the first time. The club also moved to the Nieuwe Markt. Echt-Susteren (; ) is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. Echt-Susteren was created in 2003 by merging the former municipalities of Echt, Netherlands, Echt and Susteren. Echt-Susteren is situated in a Euregional area. The Vierde Divisie (; "Fourth Division"), formerly known as Hoofdklasse () is the second-highest league of amateur football in the Netherlands, and the fifth tier in general. Background The league was divided into two sections: Saturday and Sunday. This was a result of the traditional pillarisation (), the segregation of Dutch society. The ''Saturday'' clubs are mainly Protestant Christian clubs, who were not allowed to play on Sunday. The ''Sunday'' clubs were in general Catholic and working class clubs, whose players had to work on Saturday and therefore could only play on Sunday. Although the pillarisation ended in the 1960s and 1970s, the clubs and the league maintained this division until 2023. The 2022–23 Vierde Divisie is a Netherland, Dutch football league season played in four sections, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The Dutch football league system consists of two fully professional leagues (Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie) and eight levels of amateur football leagues. The three highest amateur leagues, the Tweede, Derde and Vierde Divisie play in nationwide leagues and the five levels below are regional leagues. The Derde Divisie (; ), formerly known as Topklasse (; ), is the fourth tier of football in the Netherlands, which had its inaugural season as a third tier in 2010–11 and as a fourth tier in 2016–17. The Eerste Klasse () started as the 1st tier of football in the Netherlands and is now the 6th tier. The league is divided into ten divisions. These divisions correspond to the six districts of the Royal Dutch Football Association: each district is organised geographically. Each division consists of 14 teams. ASWH, short for Altijd Sterker Worden Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, is an association football club from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Netherlands. The club was founded in 1929. It won section championships in 1949, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1883, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2024. The KNVB Beker (; ), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organised by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup.
