Qashqadaryo Region
Qashqadaryo Region is one of the regions of Uzbekistan, located in the south-eastern part of the country in the basin of the river Qashqadaryo (river), Qashqadaryo and on the western slopes of the Pamir-Alay mountains. It borders with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Samarqand Region, Bukhara Region and Surxondaryo Region. It covers an area of 28,570 km2. The population is an estimated 3,408,345 (2022), with 57% living in rural areas. The regional capital is Qarshi (278,300 inhabitants). Administrative divisions The Qashqadaryo Region consists of 13 Districts of Uzbekistan, districts (listed below) and two district-level cities: Qarshi and Shahrisabz. Koson, Uzbekistan
Koson is a city and the administrative center of Koson District in the Kashkadarya Region of Uzbekistan. It is located in a historical region known as Sogdiana, which was part of the ancient Silk Road trade route. The city had a population of 59,300 residents as of 2005. Koson was granted city status in 1972, prior to that, it was a village (kishlak). The city is home to a railway station of the same name on the Karshi-Bukhara railway line. History The permanent population began residing in Koson after the decline of the ancient city of Yerkurgan in Sogdiana. The city features a castle dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries, surrounded by defensive walls. Prior to the Mongol invasion, these defensive walls were repaired three times. Gʻuzor
Gʻuzor (; ; ; ) is a city in Qashqadaryo Region in southern Uzbekistan. It serves as the administrative center of Gʻuzor District. Its population is 24,500 (2016). The town is home to a Polish war cemetery, one of many along the route that Anders' Army, General Anders' army took during the World War II, Second World War. Dehqonobod District
Dehqonobod District (, ) is a district of Qashqadaryo Region in Uzbekistan. The capital lies at Karashina. It has an area of and its population is 149,800 (2021 est.). The district consists of 3 urban-type settlements ( Karashina, Dehqonobod, Beshbuloq) and 14 rural communities. Dehqonobod district was established on September 29, 1926.
