Music Genre
A music genre is a conventional category that identifies some pieces of music as belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. Genre is to be distinguished from musical form and musical style, although in practice these terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Music can be divided into genres in numerous ways, sometimes broadly and with polarity, e.g., popular music as opposed to art music or folk music, or, as another example, religious music and secular music. Often, however, classification draws on the proliferation of derivative subgenres, fusion genres, and microgenres that has started to accrue, e.g., screamo, country pop, and mumble rap, respectively. The artistic nature of music means that these classifications are often subjective and controversial, and some may overlap. As genres evolve, novel music is sometimes lumped into existing categories. 999 are an English punk rock band, formed in London in December 1976. From 1976 to 1985, their line-up consisted of Nick Cash (vocals, guitar), Guy Days (lead guitar), Jon Watson (bass guitar) and Pablo LaBritain (drums). LaBritain was temporarily replaced in 1980 by drummer Paul Edwards (aka 'Ed Case') while he recovered from a motor accident. Paul Edwards later went on to be the drummer in Hazel O'Connor's band. Bassist Jon Watson left the band in 1985 and was replaced by Danny Palmer, who was succeeded by Arturo Bassick in 1991. Between 1978 and 2007, 999 released fourteen singles and twelve studio albums. Five of the singles released by 999 between 1978 and 1981 charted within the Top 75 in the UK singles chart, with one further single in 1978, "Homicide", charting within the Top 40. Alien Ant Farm is an American rock band that formed in Riverside, California in 1996. They have released six studio albums and sold over 5 million units worldwide. The band's cover of Michael Jackson's " Smooth Criminal" topped the ''Billboard'' Alternative songs charts in 2001, and was featured in the film '' American Pie 2''. They released their debut album '' Greatest Hits'' independently in 1999, then signed to DreamWorks Records in 2000. Their second album ''ANThology'' was released in 2001 and has been certified platinum by the RIAA, selling over one million copies and reaching number 11 on the ''Billboard'' 200. A Change of Pace is an American five piece pop punk band from Peoria, Arizona, United States. The band was on both the 2005 and 2006 Warped Tours. Biography A Change of Pace formed in 2001 when singer Torry Jasper and drummer Jonathan Kelly began playing together in their freshmen year of high school (while attending Centennial High School). In 2003, after a few years of jamming and playing small local shows, bassist Johnny Abdullah and guitarist Adam Rodgers joined the band. From there they were discovered by manager Jorge Hernandez, and within a few months they were signed to Immortal Records in August 2004, and released their EP ''Change Is The Only Constant''. Against the Current (often abbreviated as ATC) is an American Rock music, rock band from Poughkeepsie, New York, formed in 2011. As of 2025, the band consists of lead vocalist Chrissy Costanza, guitarist Dan Gow, and drummer Will Ferri. AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside) is an American Rock music, rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Acceptance (band)
Acceptance is an American pop punk band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1998. They released their first EP, ''Lost for Words'', in 2000, followed by ''Black Lines to Battlefields'' in 2003 (this EP was also re-released with live bonus tracks). Ace Troubleshooter
Ace Troubleshooter, often shortened to Ace, was an American pop punk band. Formed in December 1995 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, they released five albums through Tooth & Nail Records. Background Formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the band gained attention in 1996 by winning a national battle of the bands competition, sponsored by Sam Goody. Warne came up with the band's name after reading the phrase, ''ace troubleshooter'', in a history book. The Ace Troubleshooter lineup changed several times, they started as a three-piece: John Warne, Josh Abbott and Matt Pacyga. They added Isaac Deaton as the second guitarist in 1998. The Academy Is
The Academy Is... is an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 2003. Before temporarily disbanding, they were signed by the Decaydance imprint of the Fueled by Ramen label. They were originally known as "The Academy", but added the "Is..." in 2004 to avoid legal complications with other established bands already under that name. The band has released three studio albums: '' Almost Here'' (2005), '' Santi'' (2007) and ''Fast Times at Barrington High'' (2008), along with four EPs. The band announced their disbandment on October 8, 2011. In May 2015, lead singer William Beckett announced that the band would reunite at Riot Fest 2015 in Chicago. A Day to Remember is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Ocala, Florida, in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their amalgamation of metalcore and pop-punk.
