Playism (stylized as PLAYISM) is a Japanese independent video game publisher operated by Active Gaming Media. Playism started as a digital distribution platform for PC games in May 2011. History Playism was launched by Active Gaming Media in May 2011 as a digital distribution platform for PC games. It was founded by Shunji Mizutani, who has run it as executive producer since. Its launch titles included '' Machinarium'' and ''SpaceChem''. Its goal was to introduce western-developed indie titles to the Japanese market, and to localize Japanese doujin games for overseas audience. In April 2013, Playism began a project with HAL College of Technology & Design in both Osaka and Nagoya. The project involves students creating games in four-person teams over a period of several months. The Silver Case
is an adventure visual novel video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by ASCII Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1999. It was directed, designed and co-written by Goichi Suda. A remastered version was released digitally by Grasshopper Manufacture worldwide for Windows and macOS in 2016. NightCry
is a graphic adventure survival horror video game developed by Nude Maker and published by Playism Games. ''NightCry'' is directed and written by ''Clock Tower'' series creator Hifumi Kono, and is considered a spiritual successor to the series. It was first released for Windows in March 2016, and later for the PlayStation Vita in January 2019. Ports for Android and iOS were also planned, but never released. Plot ''NightCry'' largely takes place on the ''Oceanus'', an ocean liner attacked by an evil creature called the Scissor Walker. is a survival horror role-playing puzzle video game. The game was developed by Japanese developer Sen, published by Miscreant's Room and released on 10 December 2012. The game centers around an 11-year-old girl named Aya, who breaks into her father's secret laboratory to uncover the horrifying truth of his research. A Steam version, published by AGM Playism, was released on 23 September 2016. Sam Barlow is a British video game designer, best known as the writer and designer of '' Her Story'', the two British ''Silent Hill'' games '' Silent Hill: Origins'' and '' Silent Hill: Shattered Memories'', '' Telling Lies'' and ''Immortality''. He previously worked as a game director at Climax Studios, before leaving in 2014 to become an indie game developer. He published his first independent game, '' Her Story'', in June 2015, his first venture in a genre he has called the "desktop thriller." ''Her Story'' is an interactive film video game written and directed by Sam Barlow. It was released on 24 June 2015 for iOS, OS X, and Windows, and the following year for Android. In the game, the player searches and sorts through a database of video clips from fictional police interviews, and uses the clips to solve the case of a missing man. The police interviews focus on the man's wife, Hannah Smith, portrayed by British musician Viva Seifert. The game is Barlow's first project since his departure from Climax Studios, after which he became independent. He wanted to develop a game that was dependent on the narrative, and avoided working on the game until he was settled on an idea that was possible to execute.
