Plateaux Region, Togo
Plateaux Region () is one of Togo's five regions. Atakpamé is the regional capital. It is the largest region in terms of area and has the second largest population (after the Maritime Region). Other major cities in the Plateaux region include Kpalimé and Badou. The highest point of the country, Mount Agou, is located within this region. Plateaux is located north of Maritime Region and south of Centrale Region. In the west, it borders the Volta Region of Ghana, and in the east it borders three departments of Benin: Collines to the northeast; Zou to the east; and Kouffo to the southeast. Regions Of Togo
Regions () are the first-level administrative divisions of Togo. They are subdivided into prefectures, which can be further broken down into communes. Each region has an elected regional government and a capital city that acts as its administrative seat. The regional governments have jurisdiction over some local affairs, but most powers are shared with the national government. Overview Togo has five regions subdivided into 39 prefectures, which are in turn subdivided into 117 communes. The regions are, from north to south, Savanes, Kara, Centrale, Plateaux and Maritime. The Maritime Region, which contains the national capital Lomé, is the smallest by area but the largest by population, with over three-and-a-half million people. Kouffo Department
Kouffo or Couffo is one of the twelve departments of Benin. Kouffo borders the country of Togo and the departments of Mono, Zou and Atlantique. Since 2008, the department's capital has been Aplahoué.
